Finally some good news: Baby Found Amid Tornado Devastation

CASTALIAN SPRINGS, Tenn. (Feb. 7) - At first, rescuers thought it was a doll. Then it moved. In a grassy pasture strewn with toys, splintered lumber and bricks tossed by the tornado’s widespread wrath, 11-month old Kyson Stowell was lying face down in the mud, 150 yards from where his home once stood.

“It looked like a baby doll,” said David Harmon, a firefighter who had already combed the field once looking for survivors. Then he checked for a pulse. “He was laying there motionless … and he took a breath of air and started crying.”The field had already been combed once for survivors, and finding anyone alive seemed improbable. Hours after the storm, there was devastation everywhere: The body of the boy’s mother was found in the same field, houses were wiped to concrete slabs and a brick post office was blown to bits. But except for a few scrapes, Kyson was fine.

The Land of the Free’s Holiday Poll

This year over at our sister site (the Land of the Free) we asked: What Do You Think About “Gift Cards” As Presents?

We wanted to do something a little less serious since everyone was so busy with Christmas (not “the Holidays”).

Basically the results were predictable.   Only 14% of those that responded actually said they loved getting them.  34% said that gift cards were basically what you get people you know nothing about and 42% sighed and said they would rather get a gift card than some piece of junk they didn’t want but that people often feel compelled to buy for some strange reason.

Results:

* Better a gift card than something I don’t want. (42%)
* Nothing says “I know nothing about you” like a gift card! (34%)
* I love getting them! (14%)
* Only as a last resort if I still haven’t found something for someone. (9%)
* As long as they aren’t for someplace I never shop. (1%)
* Fine to get and give, but SOME are rediculous! (1%)

For My MMORPG Friends: Merry Christmas!

Since I know several of us here (Ron,PM,LP,RT,oohrah,etc.) used to waste hours on end playing Everquest, I thought I’d bring back some memories.
