Misery Loves Company

Too bad GW Bush doesn’t fit the Misery or Company mold.

See, when Ronald Reagan (R) took over Washington from Jimmy Carter (D), the country’s Misery Index was at 20.76.  By 1982, it had dropped to 15.87 and was 9.57 when Reagan left office in 1988.

Clinton (D) took over from GHW Bush (Rino) with Misery at 10.52 and when GW Bush (R) took over in 2001 it was 7.59.

Currently (TY Don) the US Misery Index at the end of 2007 was 7.46.

And people say that GW has “destroyed” this country.   Heck, his MI has been lower the whole time in office than was his father’s!!!

Say what you will - hate like you do - but the hard numbers don’t lie.

Why the Government?

My mother, for all she isn’t, taught me to be proud of what I worked for and the only person responsible for my happiness was me.

She also taught hard work before reward.

So is this why I have such a hard time understanding why people are so willing to turn over their lives to a government?

Is it because they were never taught pride in one-self and earning what they have?

Uh?

Hagee Apologizes

Wonder if Rev. J. Wright would have the backbone to do this?

Evangelical leader John Hagee, one of John McCain’s highest-profile supporters from the religious right, has apologized for comments he made that were offensive to Catholics.

In a letter Monday to Bill Donohue, president of the Catholic League for Civil and Religious Rights, Hagee wrote, “I want to express my deep regret for any comments that Catholics have found hurtful.”

Nah, we better not hold our breath.

This may be a pro-Hillary ad (a dig to the current President is at the front and back), but its powerful anyway.

Obama … B. Hussein Obama … Barrack Hussein Obama …

Is this really what this country needs as a leader?

Hurting at the Pump

So how are you doing in this up and down world of gas pries controlled by oil barons in Saudi (remember the home of the 9/11 terrorist)?

My driving habits have changed that’s for sure - and even though I can get 19 to 22 miles a gallon in my VUE, I stop and think before running off to the corner store for a candy bar. Even my weekend tanning trips will include the local grocery store for supper items.

I know that John McCain and Mrs. Bill Clinton are suggesting a federal gas tax holiday, but lets not even bother.   The gas companies are going to just jack up some other fee on the stations, that they will have to pass along to the consumer, and then when the end of the summer arrives, the prices will spike again.  And do you really believe that once the gas companies have started getting extra they are going to go on a profit diet?  Nah - don’t think so.

So what are you doing to make it through this mess?

Note: I personally believe once the elections are over … prices will drop.

The 9000 Bold has arrived.  I’m going to have to put my hands on it at the store to see if I really want to upgrade - but then again, we don’t know which carriers are going to get it yet.

….to mar a completely unpolitical situation, that SHOULD be unpolitical, with politics.

Jenna Bush, President George W. Bush’s daughter, was married over the weekend. USA TODAY carried this article. I am not sure if the text was 100% written by them or what parts were pulled from AP, and I don’t care. What incenses me is this:

It will be remembered as an upbeat moment of Bush’s two-term presidency beset by terrorism, war and the nation’s current limp economy.

This is WRONG, rude….I could say more but Jo’s site is a nice clean place.

The AP and/or USA TODAY should be ASHAMED OF THEMSELVES.

Week END Wrap

Welcome to the Weekend!!  I’m hoping to manually get this blog updated to WP 2.5.1  … cross your fingers as this will be my first attempt to do it this way.  I want to change themes but not lose my widgets.  Without the upgrade, my text widgets disappear.

People are calling for Mrs. Bill (I didn’t sleep with that women) Clinton to drop out of the Presidential race.  Question:Do you think Hillary is a quitter?  Didn’t think so.  I may not like the women and wouldn’t want her back in the White House ever … but I don’t believe quit is in this women’s vocabulary.   Then again … do you want a President that gives up too easy?   We already know John McCain isn’t a quitter, or he wouldn’t have made it out of Vietnam alive.   Obama?  Empty suit married to a … never mind, nasty names for women aren’t appropriate right now.

Yo, President Bush?  Stop with the mortgage bail out, socialist crap.  If people were too stupid to get loans they couldn’t afford, tough.  Now if people had events happen in their lives that caused hardships later on after getting a loan, then the loan company should try and work with them.   Too much “government” gimme going on for my taste.

Speaking of Bush, he walks his daughter down the isle today to move onto her own marriage.  How wonderful all the preparations sound.  Even the town of Crawford is getting in on the festivities by decorating the town angle in a veil holding a bouquet.  I wish them many years of happiness.

Now on to the links for your pleasure!  From my del.icio.us page … Enjoy!
