Obama Likes Chavez’s Policies So Much, He Wants To Duplicate Them

Yeah, yeah, I know all you liberals out there hate to have to admit that Barack Obama’s policies mirror many of those by other leftists currently and throughout history but you’ll have to get over that phobia. Here is a nice summary of how Obama’s “windfall profits tax” mirrors that of his fellow traveler Hugo Chavez:

To compete with Hillary Clinton’s pandering on a gas tax holiday, Barack Obama proposed a windfall profits tax on oil companies of his own last moth. The Obama plan is not unlike the windfall oil profits tax passed by Hugo Chavez just two weeks earlier. Obama would slap a 20% tax on the cost of a barrel of oil above $80 for all domestic oil companies. Chavez tax hits only foreign oil companies and charges a 50% rate for the cost of a barrel of oil above $70. The difference between Hugo Chavez and Barack Obama is only a slight matter of degree.

But no … he’s no socialist right?

Michelle Wants To Be Queen Bee

Apparently talk of an Obama/Clinton ticket for the Democrats come November may be only wishful thinking for liberals. Michelle Obama wants to be Queen of the White House and doesn’t take too kindly to the thought of another woman sharing the spotlight.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Close-in supporters of Sen. Barack Obama’s presidential campaign are convinced he never will offer the vice presidential nomination to Sen. Hillary Clinton for one overriding reason: Michelle Obama.

The Democratic front-runner’s wife did not comment on other rival candidates for the party’s nomination, but she has been sniping at Clinton since last summer. According to Obama sources, those public utterances do not reveal the extent of her hostility.

Of course we all know where Michelle Obama stands – not being proud of this country until her husband became a front runner for the nomination and all. She also apparently doesn’t care much for the idea of a woman as vice-president. Much less a white woman.

Sooner or later I’m sure she will let her true feelings about Hillary slip in public and verify this. She does have a problem keeping her pie hole shut after all.

Paul And His Supporters Still Eye Coup

I warned you about this a few days ago. Ron Paul and his supporters are planning to disrupt the GOP conventions at the State and national level and take advantage of voter apathy who think that now that their votes have been cast, the nomination process is over. It’s not and the paulbots know it.

They will settle for a bigger seat at the table when it comes to the platform, but their real goal is to see if they can get enough delegates in place to prevent the nomination from going to John McCain.

Virtually all the nation’s political attention in recent weeks has focused on the compelling state-by-state presidential nomination struggle between two Democrats and the potential for party-splitting strife over there.

But in the meantime, quietly, largely under the radar of most people, the forces of Rep. Ron Paul have been organizing across the country to stage an embarrassing public revolt against Sen. John McCain when Republicans gather for their national convention in St. Paul at the beginning of September.

Paul’s presidential candidacy has been correctly dismissed all along in terms of winning the nomination. He was even excluded as irrelevant by Fox News from a nationally-televised GOP debate in New Hampshire.

But what’s been largely overlooked is Paul’s candidacy as a reflection of a powerful lingering dissatisfaction with the Arizona senator among the party’s most conservative conservatives. As anticipated a month ago in The Ticket, that situation could be exacerbated by today’s expected announcement from former Republican Rep. Bob Barr of Georgia for the Libertarian Party’s presidential nod, a slot held by Paul in 1988.

The last three months Paul’s forces, who donated $34.5 million to his White House effort and upwards of one million total votes, have, as The Ticket has noted, been fighting a series of guerrilla battles with party establishment officials at county and state conventions from Washington and Missouri to Maine and Mississippi. Their goal: to take control of local committees, boost their delegate totals and influence platform debates.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again; McCain is a terrible candidate who has a track record of trashing the Constitution when it suits him as well as pandering to groups when he seeks power. But Ron Paul? Give me a break! He is a faux conservative/libertarian who on one had requests unconstitutional spending while on the other votes against it. No true conservative/libertarian would even let unconstitutional spending come to a vote.

Couple this with his non-libertarian views on liberty being an unalienable right and that as long as he’s got his screw everyone else and you have a man and a group of followers who are just as bad as John McCain and not exactly people you want having much of a say in the platform building process.

Make no mistake, the supporters of Ron Paul really believe that their candidate is the Barack Obama of the GOP and swoon when he speaks – ignoring his failings of course. And if they can they want to overturn the nomination and put his name on the ticket. They won’t but they will try.

And if the apathetic voters let them they might just do even more damage to the Republican Party. Which, on second thought might not be a bad idea. But I certainly don’t want them in charge of platform writing and policy making any more than McCain’s supporters.

Vote Buying? Dem Super Delegate Demands Money For Vote!

Hey, what is a few bucks to grease the palm of a delegate to the Democrat’s National Convention right? Liberals have done similar things in the past in order to bribe voters to vote for them – think every socialist (and unconstitutional) wealth redistribution program on the books from Welfare to Social Security. Each and every one of them is tantamount to saying “Vote for us” - if you want your loyalty payment that is.

And year after year liberals flood the polls to justify legalizing the theft of property from others to enrich themselves. So is anyone really surprised that Steven Ybarra would suggest that $20 million dollars would be enough to buy his vote?

Mr. Ybarra wants the money to get “shown the money” (actual quote is “Nobody showed me any money yet”) to get about a million Mexican-Americans to the polls in November to help liberals maintain their tax and spending ways.

A few questions arise from this.

First, does it really take about $20 per person to get them to a polling place? What exactly would the money be used for? Buses to haul them in? Or maybe bribes to get them to vote a certain way?

Second, does Mr. Ybarra really believe that without spending money on them, “Mexican-Americans” are incapable of getting to the polls by themselves?

Third, why are “Mexican-Americans” more special and deserving of money to help convince them to vote than say normal “Americans”?

Fourthly, why do “Mexican-Americans” not simply want to be considered “Americans”? Do they think they are special? Perhaps superior?

Certainly these are serious questions.

My Take On Limbaugh’s “Operation Chaos”

I was sitting back today, thinking about a couple things and realized that I hadn’t actually given my view on Rush Limbaugh’s “Operation Chaos” – a campaign designed not to support any particular Democrat but merely to prolong the primary. This despite getting several emails a day asking my opinion on it.

First, I think that party primaries should be closed. If you want a say in a party’s nominee then you should register with that party and be faithful to that party. “Open” primaries are silly in the same way that letting your nextdoor neighbor have a say in where you go to eat dinner or what car you buy is. Sure, you can get outside opinions, but in the long run only those people in the party should have final say.

Furthermore, deadlines to change party registration should be well before any primaries take place to avoid people changing registration at the last minute.

Second, I realize that in many states primaries are not closed.

Third, I find it odd how when Democrats and Independents vote for someone like the liberal McCain in an open primary it is a show of his across the isle appeal. But when Conservative voters cross party lines to vote for any Democrat it is a sign of how the system is broken or that such can now be claimed as “fraud”.

Furthermore, it is so cute to watch liberals show their goose-stepping side once again by trying to get voters to sign “loyalty oaths” or threats that they will be “watched” and dealt with if they don’t behave the way liberals demand and in ways that are above and beyond the established rules.

Fourth, I do find “Operation Chaos” hilarious because it is driving the liberals nuts that they are getting a taste of their own medicine.

Finally, I don’t support cross-over voting even in states that do allow it because I believe that only people belonging to a party should have a say in that party’s nominee. I would never do it. That does not mean however that I don’t get a chuckle out of it. It isn’t illegal so if you want to participate then knock yourself out.

Maybe we’ll finally get some reform and close the party primaries in all states come the next election.

Non Generic Democrats Fall Flat

Pollsters love to claim that Democrats are trusted more on key issues than Republicans. They get these results most often by not assigning any names but just using generic labels. However, when names are attached the results often flip … which lead to the question as to whether or not your average voter has a clue about where the parties stand in general.

On as series of key Election 2008 issues, voters generally trust Democrats more than Republicans on most key electoral issues. At the same time, however, John McCain is trusted more than Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama on these issues (see video report). This ability of McCain to outperform the party label helps explain why he is competitive with the Democrats in national polling.

No joke, the numbers are stunning … not that McCain is a great Republican mind you.

Economy: Democrats favored 48% - 40%. BUT McCain is favored 47% - 42% over Hillary and 46% - 39% over Obama.

Iraq War: Democrats favored 45% - 43%. BUT McCain is favored 50% - 40% over Hillary and 48% - 39% over Obama.

National Security: Democrats favored 47% - 42%. But McCain is favored 54% - 34% over Hillary and 47% - 34% over Obama.

Government Ethics: Democrats favored 28% - 32%. But McCain is favored 47% - 34% over Hillary but Barack Obama beats McCain 44% - 33% despite his propensity for lying coming out into the open.

Taxes: Republicans favored 46% - 42%. McCain is favored 45% - 36% over Hillary and 41% - 38% over Obama.

So the question to all you people that trust “Democrats” more is what fictitious Democrats are you planning on voting for? And why if you disagree with them as being the best candidates? because Hillary and Barack are pretty much your typical liberal Democrats - like it or not.

Moonbat Franken Loosing Appeal With Voters

Liberal moonbat extraordinaire Al Franken starting to fade in his bid for relevancy after his career as a radio talk host failed to get off the ground. The latest Rasmussen poll shows he is now 7 points behind Norm Coleman.

The poll has Coleman at 50% and Franken at 43% after Franken had surged in previous months

Paulbots Try To Overturn Election

Oh, you probably thought the Ron Paul supporters actually believed in the will of the people right? Well, you would be slightly off if you did – what they believe in is their own power. Throughout the GOP primary the Paulbots tried really hard to convince the majority of conservatives and libertarians that Ron Paul was a good candidate. They failed and so did Ron Paul’s candidacy as a result.

So it is time for Plan B – screw the primaries, screw the will of the people and hijack the conventions.

After a super-majority of Ron Paul supporters captured control of the Republican state convention Saturday, state party officials abruptly canceled the event without electing delegates to the national convention.

Early in the day, state delegates supporting Paul’s continued pursuit of the Republican nomination voted through a rules change that forced the state party to abandon its preset ballot of potential national convention delegates and open up the race to the rest of the state delegates.

The vote followed a rousing speech by Paul of Texas, who said his presidential campaign will continue as long as he has support.

But as the convention continued into the evening, chairman Bob Beers said the party’s contract for the hall at the Peppermill Resort Casino had expired and the event would be rescheduled.
“Due to a rules change that left us on an overtime basis, we will recess the convention until a date that we are going to announce next week,” Beers told a shocked crowd, which stood silent for a few seconds before erupting in boos.

The move is an attempt to disrupt the process and overthrow the election and reallocate delegates John McCain has already won by voting in delegates who will vote for Ron Paul instead at the National Convention. His supporters know that their best chance is to attack at the convention level where they can overwhelm the process because the voters expect their will to be carried out. Ron Paul’s supporters believe that they will be able to muster greater numbers at the conventions to see that that does not happen and do an end run around an electorate that doesn’t understand the process is not over in most states.

Ron Paul himself seems to be egging this sort of activity on by his remarks. Quite frankly it doesn’t surprise me coming from a man who claims to be the “tax payer’s best friend” yet is not above requesting unconstitutional earmarks and spending. Deny it all you want Mr. Paul and you Paulbots - hte facts are the facts.

Ron Paul and his supporters are going to continue this sort of activity because they think that Ron Paul is actually a better candidate than John McCain and that means they are justified in acting this way in their own minds.  The problem is that Ron Paul is no better than John McCain.  They are both highly flawed candidates and unworthy of being President. They are both bad choices for conservatives and libertarians to support.

In the end what you see is what I have been saying about the Paulbots for months – that they think they are smarter than the people and that their candidate is the chosen one. In reality they are just as misinformed as your average voter and not above using thuggish tactics to get their way.

Even Stevens Agrees – States Have Right To Know Who Votes

In a blow to perpetrators of voter fraud everywhere, the Supreme Court has settled the issue of identifying voters as they head to the polls to cast their votes.

WASHINGTON (AP) - The Supreme Court ruled Monday that states can require voters to produce photo identification without violating their constitutional rights, validating Republican-inspired voter ID laws.

In a splintered 6-3 ruling, the court upheld Indiana’s strict photo ID requirement, which Democrats and civil rights groups said would deter poor, older and minority voters from casting ballots. Its backers said it was needed to prevent fraud.

It was the most important voting rights case since the Bush v. Gore dispute that sealed the 2000 election for George W. Bush. But the voter ID ruling lacked the conservative-liberal split that marked the 2000 case.

The law “is amply justified by the valid interest in protecting ‘the integrity and reliability of the electoral process,’” Justice John Paul Stevens said in an opinion that was joined by Chief Justice John Roberts and Anthony Kennedy. Stevens was a dissenter in Bush v. Gore in 2000.

Justices Samuel Alito, Antonin Scalia and Clarence Thomas also agreed with the outcome, but wrote separately.

Justices Stephen Breyer, Ruth Bader Ginsburg and David Souter dissented, just as they did in 2000.

When someone as liberal as Stevens agrees, you know you made a strong case. This will certainly not sit well with liberals who have been flooding the polls with illegitimate dead and multiple vote casting voters for years in order to mess up our Republic.

States and their citizens, as members of this Republic, certainly have a vested interest in making sure that the system of elections works properly and is not tampered with by fraudulent votes and there is nothing wrong with identifying people who come to vote an verify they are who they say they are. By extension they naturally have the right to ask that voters identify themselves as they enter the polls.

The only people that disagree with this fact are people who are trying to commit fraud in the system. And you can bet they are going to yell quite loudly and stomp their feet.

Now that the Supreme Court has ruled in favor of an interest in identifying voters as who they say they are, expect States that were holding back on such regulations, out of fear that the liberals on the Court would win out, to move forward.

LA Times Attacks McCain’s “Disability” and Health

Count on the LA Times to carry the Democrat’s water this election. Their latest is a piece by Ralph Vartabedian which is actually approaching the topic of just how healthy is John McCain if he is technically “disabled” according to the military.

Sen. John McCain has long said he is in robust health and is strong enough to hike the Grand Canyon, but he also is receiving what his staff Monday termed a “disability pension” from the Navy.

When McCain released his tax return for 2007 on Friday, he separately disclosed that he received a pension of $58,358 that was not listed as income on his return.

On Monday, McCain’s staff identified the retirement benefit as a “disability pension” and said that McCain “was retired as disabled because of his limited body movements due to injuries as a POW.”

McCain campaign strategist Mark Salter said Monday night that McCain was technically disabled. “Tortured for his country — that is how he acquired his disability,” Salter said.

Certain types of military and veterans pensions are either partially or completely tax-exempt, depending on the seriousness of the disability. In McCain’s case, the exemption is 100%.

If McCain had to pay taxes on the full amount of the pension, it would have increased his tax bill by about $18,000 based on the percentage of his income he paid to the federal government.

McCain spent 5 1/2 years as a prisoner of war in Hanoi. After he was released in 1973, he returned home on crutches and began a painful physical rehabilitation. He later regained flight status and commanded a Navy squadron before retiring from the service in 1981.

McCain would be the oldest man to enter the White House if he is elected president, and questions have been raised about his health.

McCain has twice developed melanoma, a potentially deadly form of skin cancer.

The fact that he is legally designated with a disability pension may raise further questions.

So now the liberal media is not just going to attack his age, while not going after John “Our Marines are murderers” Murtha who is even older, but also questioning if he is capable of being Commander in Chief because he is “disabled”? What “questions” would this raise Mr. Vartabedian from legitimate, non-party hacks?

There is no doubt that McCain is disabled and his disability really has little to do with whether or not he can lead this country. What DOES have a lot to do with whether or not he can lead this country is his judgment, which is very poor if you ask me.

But this is the game plan for this election year – attack McCain’s age. So now the label “ageist” can be added to the all the other “ists” that commonly find themselves in the liberal movement right along side of “sexist”, “racist”, “communist”, “socialist” and “fascist”.
