This is a confirmed mission for the Patriot Guard to honor Cpl Jack R. Murphy, Sr., USMC, Vet.; Silver Spring, MD, who passed away April 17, 2013. It is a go, all contacts have been made. Services at ANC are scheduled for Wednesday, June 26, 2013, at approximately 0900 hrs. The family had private services for Cpl Murphy on April 20, 2013, and has graciously invited us to accompany them as Cpl Murphy makes his final journey to ANC.

Cpl Murphy was born October 29, 1936, in Orrville, OH. He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1955 and served more than four years active duty and reserve. Cpl Murphy was the recipient of the Good Conduct Marine Corps Medal and last served with Co B, 1st Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division.

He is survived by his wife, nine children, nineteen grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, five siblings, a large extended family and many friends.

NOTE: Conceal/carry permits are NOT recognized on military installations and federal reservations. Arlington National Cemetery is a federal reservation. Do not bring weapons or hazardous materials to this mission.
3 x 5 hand-held flags will not be needed for this mission. If you have flag(s) mounted on your bike, make sure your rig has been tested prior to arrival at the United State Marine Corps War Memorial. All rigs will be inspected prior to departure.

The weather forecast for Wednesday, June 26th is chance of showers and thunderstorms (30%) with a low of 74 degrees and high of 89 degrees. Check the weather prior to your departure and dress appropriately. Bring water to stay hydrated. Do not let the weather keep you away, you may cage to this mission.
