This is a confirmed mission for the Patriot Guard to honor LCpl Charles P. Schantag, Jr., USMC, Vet., Vietnam, Branson, MO, who passed away February 23, 2012. It is a go, all contacts have been made. Services at ANC are scheduled for Wednesday, June 26, 2013, at approximately 1445 hrs. Our brothers and sisters in Missouri stood the flag line for LCpl Schantag at services held February 26, 2012. The family has graciously invited us to continue the flag line as he makes his final journey to ANC.

LCpl Schantag was born November 22, 1947, in Philadelphia, PA. He was the founder and Chairman of the P.O.W. Network, a disabled Vietnam veteran and recipient of the Purple Heart. He received his Purple Heart during Tet 68 serving with the U.S. Marine Corps, India 3/5. He served from 1965 through 1968.

LCpl Schantag was also a member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart (MOPH), Disabled American Veterans (DAV), River Rats, Honorary member of the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) Mozark Chapter, NAM-POWs, USARA and SFA.

He is survived by his wife, four children, five grandchildren, three siblings, a large extended family and many friends.

Military mandated riding gear IS REQUIRED. You must have:

Government issued photo i.d. (e.g., drivers license)
DOT approved helmet
Long-sleeve shirt or jacket
Full-fingered gloves
Over the ankle boots
Have reflective gear available (in the event we are asked to wear it)

NOTE: Conceal/carry permits are NOT recognized on military installations and federal reservations. Do not bring weapons or hazardous materials to this mission.

Please bring 3 x 5 hand-held flags for the first part of this mission. 3 x 5 hand-held flags will not be needed once we enter the grounds of ANC. If you have flag(s) mounted on your bike, make sure your rig has been tested prior to arrival at the United State Marine Corps War Memorial. All rigs will be inspected prior to departure.

The weather forecast for Wednesday, June 26th is chance of showers and thunderstorms (30%) with a low of 74 degrees and high of 89 degrees. Check the weather prior to your departure and dress appropriately. Bring water to stay hydrated. Do not let the weather keep you away, you may cage to this mission.
