Hagel’s Own Words Preventing Him from Shoring Up Support

Hagel’s record makes it clear, he is the wrong choice for Secretary of Defense. Even the President’s own party is having trouble putting together enough votes.   All those who opposed him before the recent endorsements of Sens. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.) and Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) still oppose him. That’s why it is so crucial for you to sign our petition and join us in opposing Chuck Hagel.

Please Help us by by doing the following: 1 – Sign the Petition Below (if you have not signed it already) 2 – Forward it to your family and friends and encourage them to sign Remember our strength is in our numbers, we must spread the word!

His support for sequestration, which will force deep cuts to our military is hard to swallow by many who will be asked on January 31st to support his nomination.  Recently the seven members of the Joint Chiefs sent a letter to the Armed Forces Committee.

Joint Chiefs warn budget issues could create ‘hollow force’

By Jeremy Herb

“The readiness of our Armed Forces is  at a tipping point,” the military leaders said. “We are on the brink of  creating a hollow force due to an unprecedented convergence of budget  conditions and legislation that could require the Department to retain  more forces than requested while underfunding that force’s readiness.”

“Should this looming readiness crisis  be left unaddressed, we will have to ground aircraft, return ships to  port, and stop driving combat vehicles in training,” the generals and  admirals wrote. “We will also be unable to reset and restore the force’s  full-spectrum combat capability after over a decade of hard fighting in  Iraq and Afghanistan.”

Despite these pleas and the numerous implications of what a hollow military would mean, Chuck Hagel stands by and advocates for it. A weak Military under the leadership and direction of Chuck Hagel cannot be supported. Please help us spread the word. More and more have come out against Chuck Hagel because of his record, his words and his world view.

Mr. President and the Congress,

The nomination by President Barack Hussein Obama of former Senator Charles T “Chuck” Hagel for the office of Secretary of Defense of the United States of America is UNACCEPTABLE.

The nominee, Chuck Hagel, has demonstrated many times in his political career that he is unfit to serve as SECDEF and is on the wrong side of several issues that are key to national defense. As such, his confirmation as SECDEF would represent a clear danger to the foreign policy goals of the United States, and would put the American people at risk.  Here are our reasons why:

Whereas, Chuck Hagel has expressed support for Sequestration (huge indiscriminate cuts in military spending) which would surely cripple our military readiness.

Whereas, Chuck Hagel has consistently expressed a lack of support for America’s most important strategic ally in the Middle East, the nation of Israel.

Whereas, Chuck Hagel refused to sign a letter condemning anti-Semitism in Russia

Whereas, Chuck Hagel has, on numerous occasions, voted against financial and trade sanctions against Iran, a state sponsor of terrorism.

Whereas, Chuck Hagel has refused to vote for, or publicly recognize the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps as a terrorist organization.

Whereas, Chuck Hagel has supported direct talks with terrorist organizations like Hamas and Hezbollah instead of a strong response.

Therefore, we here signed, resolve to oppose your nomination of former Senator Chuck Hagel for Secretary of Defense, and demand that his nomination be Rejected by the Senate.

If you have already signed the petition, you do not have to sign it again, but PLEASE forward it to your friends and family who have not yet signed!

Your voice will be added to our petition to the members of the United States Senate who will vote on whether to confirm or reject the Hagel nomination. We must let the members of the Senate know that it is unacceptable to have a man running the Pentagon who has no concern over the looming Obama Sequestration which will devastate our military.

His anti-Semitism cannot be supported.  We find his record and statement concerning Israel, our ally in the Middle East, very concerning. In 2006 he said, “the Jewish lobby intimidates a lot of people up here.” Also, he refused to sign policy papers by the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), saying in response, “I’m a United States Senator…not an Israeli Senator.” PLEASE: If you have aready signed the petition, you do not need to sign it again. Forward this e-mail to all your friends, family, neighbors, or anyone you know who supports our troops and wants to keep America strong and secure! We need more people to sign this petition!
