MEXICO CITY - An American Marine veteran who spent the past four months in a Mexican prison for crossing the border with a shotgun was released on Friday, according to his family and lawmakers who came to his aid, ending an ordeal that had raised tensions between the two governments.
“It’s like a miracle; that’s the only way I can express it,” said his mother, Olivia Hammar, who lives in Florida. “It’s our little Christmas miracle.”
Huge thanks to all of our members out there who sent and forwarded e-mails, called or e-mailed congress, sent in donations or spread the word on Facebook and twitter. It just goes to show that the pro-troop community is just as vibrant and organized as ever, and when our troops need us, we are there to speak out, force the public discussion, and wage the opinion war in the media.
These brave men and women, our troops, are risking their lives thousands of miles from home and deserve every bit of support and thanks that we can give them.
We hear time and time again from our military care package recipients how much they appreciate our care packages and how much it means to them to know that people from back home took the time to think of them – it makes their day, week, and even month!
