Our tour through the battleground state of Ohio is winding down and MAFPAC is returning back to base. Debbie Lee had a very successful trip, visiting every corner of the state to visit with the candidates, talk about how their races are going, and deliver our endorsement on behalf of all of our MAFPAC members and donors.
On Wednesday MAFPAC visited Bethel, Ohio, just outside of Cincinnati to endorse a new friend Brad Wenstrup. Brad is a combat surgeon who served in the Iraq War saving lives and winning hearts and minds.
Brad joined the U.S. Army Reserves in 1998, already a practicing doctor In 2005 he was deployed for a year of active duty in Iraq where he served as a combat surgeon with the 344th Combat Support Hospital.
One of the peculiar things about Brad’s deployment is that he was assigned to the Abu Ghraib prison, shortly after the media published photos making the prison look bad. Brad came in as part of a new officer corps being brought in to straighten up the place and soon he and his staff entirely changed the perception of the base.
Brad saved hundreds of lives while operating the hospital at Abu Ghraib. He treated hundreds of Iraqi civilians and children, curing diseases and illnesses that befuddled Iraqi doctors could not even diagnose.
He also started some amazing programs to help the local Iraqi kids who had nothing. Once, after diagnosing an Iraqi baby with a mysterious illness, Brad determined that the only thing the child needed was a special baby formula that Iraqis did not know about. Brad contacted some people back home and soon enough he had generous Americans sending in boxes upon boxes of the special formula. Months later, the child’s father, his eyes wet with tears of joy, came to see Brad to thank him and praised the American people for their generosity.

On Friday MAFPAC came down to the suburbs of Cleveland to help out a candidate who really needs as much help as we can give him this cycle.
Jim Renacci is a new congressman who has one term under his belt, but his seat has been targeted by Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats.
Jim is a solid conservative who has stood behind our troops every step of the way. He comes from a longtime military family with uncles, cousins, and nephews representing every branch of the military.
This small Ohio district is being completely flooded with outside money from Democrats, the DCCC and Leftists Super PACs. One such outside group, the so-called “House Majority PAC” has already run $400,000 in advertisements attacking Jim Renacci and the group promises to spend up to $1.3 million!
They are making a mistake by attacking Jim for supporting coal power though, as a significant portion of the states revenue comes from the coal industry, and coal miners are fed up with Democrat’s efforts to kill coal jobs.
Either way the Democrats are trying to throw everything and the kitchen sink into this race, in hopes of defeating a pro-troop candidate in Jim Renacci. We must try to do everything we can to help keep this seat!
