This is a confirmed mission for the Patriot Guard to honor MSgt Alfonso Sellet., USAF, Ret., 91, Walker Valley, NY, who passed away April 17, 2012.
It is a go, all contacts have been made.
Services at ANC are scheduled for Friday, June 22, 2012, at approximately 1300 hrs.

MSgt Sellet was born October 12, 1920, in Naples, Italy. He joined the Army in 1941 serving during WWII and Korea. He transferred to the Air Force serving two tours in Vietnam. He served a total of 25 years both active and reserves, and was honorably discharged in 1970. He was last employed as Superintendent of the Ulster County Office Building in Kingston until retiring in 1978.

MSgt Sellet was the recipient of the Bronze Star with Valor for his distinguished actions during World War II at the Ludendorf Bridge at Ramagen, Germany; eight Battle Stars; Good Conduct Medal with Clasp; American Defense Service Ribbon; American Theater Service Ribbon; European African Middle Eastern Service Ribbon; World War II Victory Ribbon; and he received a Presidential Citation.

He was proud to have been instrumental in the creation of Vietnam Veterans Day first being proclaimed March 29, 1974, and was present at the Proclamation signing by President Richard Nixon. He was a life member of the AM Vets, Disabled American Veterans and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was also a past member of the Walker Valley Fire Department.

3 x 5 hand-held flags will not be needed for this mission If you have flag(s) mounted on your bike, make sure your mount has been tested prior to arrival at the United State Marine Corps War Memorial. All mounts will be inspected prior to departure.

The extended forecast for Friday, June 22nd is isolated thunderstorms (30%) with a low of 75 degrees and a high of 89 degrees. Monitor the weather closely prior to your departure and dress appropriately. Bring water to stay hydrated. Do not let the weather keep you away, you may cage to this mission.
