Two Spunky Conservative Girl Scouts

A teen member of the Girl Scouts of the United States of America is in the news and for the same reason another Scout made (some) headlines last month: They believe only girls should be Girl Scouts. More importantly, they believe in principles.
In December, 15 year old Sydney Volanski appeared on FNC’s “Fox and Friends” and outed the GSUSA as a sinister tool of the Democrat Party and has abandoned its mission as an apolitical advocate for American girls and had adopted that party’s ”progressive” goals.
See her website here http://speaknowgirlscouts.com/.
Among other substantiated allegations, Ms. Volanski charged the GSUSA leadership with blatant propagandizing by guiding Girl Scouts seeking sources of information to such extremist sources as George Soros’ Media Matters, its own publication, MEdia, and to America’s premiere abortionist, Planned Parenthood.
In addition to that misguided guidance to purveyors of leftist propaganda, in the interests of promoting perverse diversity, the GSUSA has dropped the requisite mention of God from the Girl Scout Promise and promotes its own version of the military’s former “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy in regard to sexual orientation.
The articulate Ms. Volanski found all that “progressive” abandonment of Scout tradition and principles repugnant as did other Scout members and leaders who ultimately left the GSUSA after a transgendered, biological boy was admitted to their ranks.
See “The Death of the Girl Scouts” for full details on the motivations of Sydney Volanski and those leaders. (http://bit.ly/zBGq0s.)
Proving they are not alone in their repugnance over the decline of an organization that had long been a model of excellence for future women of America, a Ventura County, California teen Girl Scout, identified only as “Taylor,” has joined the nationwide protest against the GSUSA.
Unlike Sydney, “Taylor” has not resigned her 8-year membership but is calling for a boycott of Girl Scout cookies, funds from which sales she maintains are used to support more “progressivism.”
As Taylor said on an 8-minute YouTube video, “I have been taught by Girl Scouts to advocate for my beliefs, and to discover, connect and take action when I see something I want to change in the world. The problem is, what I want to help change is Girl Scouts.”
Taylor added, “Right now, Girl Scouts of the USA, or GSUSA, is not being honest with us girls, its troops, its leaders, its parents or the American public” and decried the GSUSA failure to be “safe for girls.”
The ChristianPost.com wisely refused to divulge Taylor’s full identity “out of fear of retribution.” That fear itself is a sad comment on the attitude toward dissent in America today: Occupy Wall Street anarchists are free to trash American institutions but a Girl Scout isn’t free to express her opinions without fear of repercussions.
In view of the release of Taylor’s video to religious and pro-family groups by HonestGirlScouts.com, it’s doubtful her anonymity can be insured indefinitely. (http://bit.ly/lYxyCQ)
One can only hope that the GSUSA, the MSM, and the nation’s Girl Scouts afford Sydney Volanski and “Taylor” the same respect they accord to liberal dissidents, but I doubt they will. Either way, Sydney Volanski and “Taylor” deserve to be honored for daring to stand up to the moral decay that is rotting the foundations of a once-great American institution.
