Ouch! Unemployment Claims Jump
J.J. Jackson | January 12, 2012
Liberals have been going ga ga over how first time claims for unemployment had been dropping through the Christmas shopping season. Big surprise there as companies hired people to deal with predictable and cyclical demand for products. Today however the Department of Labor announced that first time claims for unemployment, for the week ending January 7th, jumped 24,000 to 399,000 from the upwardly revised 375,000 claims of the previous week.
That’s what happens when reality is ignored in favor of cute, nicely wrapped talking points and spin. All those temporary holiday workers are getting shown the door. Just like every year.
