“Occupy”‘s Black Friday Boycott Crashes And Burns
J.J. Jackson | November 28, 2011
Last week the “Occupy” crowd did something stupid; they took a leap of faith based on bad economic theory. Hoping that the economy was so bad that it would translate into poor Black Friday sales, they tried to capitalize and call for a boycott of the sales holiday when retailers actually start making money on the year. They hoped that sales would be down so that they could claim credit. You know, they are like the loons who say “wear jeans on [insert day here] to support [insert cause here]” and then proclaim victory when people do what they normally do and are unaware of their loony agenda.
Well, the “Occupy” crew has egg on their face. Yes, the economy stinks, but anyone who understands economics, which your typical “Occupy” protester does not, knows that only means people seek bargains a a higher rate than normal. And as a result, Black Friday sales rose this year.
Not only did they rise, but they set a record.
Sales rose an estimated 6.6 percent to a record $11.4 billion on Black Friday, typically the busiest shopping day of the year for Americans, while the traffic at stores rose 5.1 percent, according to ShopperTrak.
Oh well. Looks like irrelevancy is setting in for the 0.000001%. I’d say the 25%, since they represent the 25% of hard core leftists in this country, but judging by the pathetic so-called “crowds” at these protests not even their fellow leftists are that much interested in the movement.
