Unemployment Claims Stay Over 400,000
J.J. Jackson | October 27, 2011
The economy continues to slog along based on this week’s unemployment report. The Department of Labor announced that first time claims for unemployment were 402,000 for the week ending October 22nd.
That is a decrease of 1,000 from last week’s initial number and 2,000 from the revised number released this week.
Once again I say that this is unacceptable. Take 400,000 and multiply it by 52 weeks to get an annualized rate of Americans signing up for unemployment. If you are not outraged now, you will be once you do that math.
