Samuel Adams Expresses What The Founders Thought About Rights

Liberals often claim that the Constitution gives them carte blanche authority to do whatever the want to the rest of us. They cite the “General Welfare” clause and when that doesn’t work they cite the “Commerce Clause” and then they just work on down the line of their canned responses to people who are smarter than they are and who confront them with facts.
It is well known that the Constitution is not broad grant of powers to Washington. Rather it is a limited set of powers which we the people have opted to allow them to have since God grants rights and those rights are not able to be usurped.
Samuel Adams puts modern liberals in their place by explaining it thusly:
“It is the greatest absurdity to suppose it [would be] in the power of one, or any number of men, at the entering into society, to renounce their essential natural rights, or the means of preserving those rights; when the grand end of civil government, from the very nature of its institution, is for the support, protection, and defense of those very rights; the principal of which … are life, liberty, and property. If men, through fear, fraud, or mistake, should in terms renounce or give up any essential natural right, the eternal law of reason and the grand end of society would absolutely vacate such renunciation. The right to freedom being the gift of God Almighty, it is not in the power of man to alienate this gift and voluntarily become a slave.” — Samuel Adams
Liberals won’t stop promoting the Big Lie. They never will. Because their very existence depends on that Big Lie. But should enough people become educated, the Big Lie will cease to be effective.
