This is about people not politics.

It is late, I should be in bed, but I am not. My mind will not allow me to sleep, it keeps thinking about those elderly people that the president put a big target on. After spending much of his administration naming them as the reason we have such a high deficit, threatening their social security checks over the balanced budget amendment and now once again to raise the debt ceiling, this man has managed to scare these people to death and for what? So he can have more money to spend? I can’t help but notice that he did not target food stamps or welfare, just the ones where the people who paid into it are supposed to get their money back. You see the government made a contract with these people, they told them that if they allowed them to take a certain amount of their paycheck each week, that when they got older that money would be there for them.

Just imagine if the head of the fund that your 401K is in told you when you turned 65 that unless their demands were met they would not cut your monthly check, how many of you remember when the big businesses were unable to pay the pension funds and people who had paid all their working lives lost everything. Those same people who looked down on those companies and swore to take them to task are the ones standing there saying unless we get what we want you will not get your money. There is a lot more at stake here than just a presidents or senators reputation, this is peoples lives they are messing with. A lot of the people in the nursing homes, pay for their treatment with their social security, will the nursing homes simply push their wheel chairs out onto the curb, what about the father and mother who have worked all their lives, who are still trying to be independent, what will they eat? What about electricity, water, medicine?

What have they done to deserve such disdain, all they have ever done is work and grow the economy, they built this country into what it is now and all we can say is you’ll get your money without any facts to back that up, this is the president, the only president to overturn the OMB so he could use troop pay as a bargaining chip during the budget amendment do we really think he has any qualms whatsoever about putting people he considers a problem on the street begging for food. These are not just numbers we are dealing with here, these are people, these are our family members and unless you can 100% guarantee them that they will get their checks you have no right to placate them this way. You cannot sit in your nice comfy chair and say oh it will be OK while they sit in their living room wondering if they will even be able to buy food.

I don’t want more debt any more than the next guy, and if I honestly believed that we would not end up giving the president what he wants and that he was making empty threats I would say give him hell, but I am sorry what I see is a bunch of people vying for nothing but votes, saying things they cannot back up and scaring the hell out of a lot of people. This is about people not politics.
