Sorry To Rain On Your Parade RE: Weekly Unemployment

Yep, liberals are happy. Why are they happy? They are happy because the United States Department of Labor just released the number of new unemployment insurance claims for the week ending July 23rd and that they dropped below 400,000 for the first time in a long time. The number, subject to adjustment, was given as 398,000.

This, liberals are emailing claiming, is a sign that things are starting to turn around since the stigma attached to the 400,000 new claims threshold has been broken.

But this is just an example of cherry picking data.

There is very bad news in this report. For example, as of July 9th (the most recent data available) there were 320,152 more people on unemployment benefit programs than the week prior. That is not good news.

In fact, since the same time last year there has been a drop in the unemployment rolls of just 750,102. This equates to approximately 62,509 people per month finding work OR simply dropping off the rolls having exhausted their benefits. You can spin all you want but those numbers are not good.

But hey, you liberals have to latch to anything you can I suppose to convince yourselves that liberalism and rampant spending is working.
