Generals Say Obama Budget Will Put Troops at High Risk
Move America Forward | July 31, 2011
High ranking military officials admitted that they are worried about the $800 billion cuts to the defense budget proposed by Harry Reid and endorsed by President Obama. If these cuts go through, our troops will have to do more with less, while still in harms way in Iraq and Afghanistan.
General Martin Dempsey said the cuts would be “extraordinarily difficult and very high risk”
Supplies are already dwindling, as years of war have taxed the military’s logistics and supply systems. With less money and supplies coming in through the defense budget, our troops have already had to deal with bare shelves in PX systems and cutbacks on what they are provided by the military.
| “The Marines would face challenges in absorbing its share of a $400 billion cut. If cuts go beyond that, we would have to start making some fundamental changes in the nature of the Marine Corps,”
- USMC Assistant Commandant General
30 JULY 2011 “Defense cuts larger than $400 billion would force a ‘fundamental’ change in how the service meets its part of the military’s mission, and force it to reduce ‘capacity,’ meaning equipment.” “Some portions of the Air Force are right at the ragged edge.” - USAF Vice Chief General Philip Breedlove

These military leaders have stuck their necks out to call attention to these defense-gutting budget cuts. To take such an outspoken stance, must mean that the situation is nothing short of critical for the Soldier, Airman, Sailor or Marine on the ground in Afghanistan and Iraq.
Our troops need our support in these difficult times… don’t let supply shortages effect the lives of our troops on the front lines, please send them some care packages to help them get the basic supplies they need!
