Thoughts On Michele Bachmann

J.J. Jackson | June 28, 2011

My general feeling on Michele Bachmann is that she sounds good in prepared speeches although they are not great. She crafts her words carefully to give good sound-bites. She even has a fairly good record as a member of Congress. She does have a propensity for not answering the question that is asked of her and rambling on. And most importantly she would not end rampant unconstitutional spending. She might cut it back but she would, as president, fix her signature to many constitutionally repugnant programs.

My concern with Ms. Bachmann is that she appears too eager to self-proclaim herself the Tea Party Candidate rather than letting the voters decide that. I think there gets to be a point where you can only tell people what to think of you before people start to pull back. I think Ms. Bachmann needs to be careful about this.

When people make their own decisions about you they are more likely to feel comfortable with those decisions. When you try to tell other people what to think of you they are less likely to have that comfort level and support you in the long run.

Now, before any of you rabid Bachmann partisans out there think that this is me in some way trying to tell people that Michelle Bachmann is not a good candidate or that I am attacking her because I am daring to criticize her, please note that on my website, (that’s LibertyReborn.com if you are reading this through one of my syndication partners) Ms. Bachmann is only one of four candidates I rate as a B- or better. B- being the threshold I would need to feel comfortable voting for someone.

So don’t fly off the handle at me for speaking my mind.
