The Obama Doctrine? Haphazardness?

J.J. Jackson | March 29, 2011

This is not news. It is just confirmation of what anyone who has paid attention already knew. President Obama has no desire to be consistent. We first became painfully aware of this when his Justice Department refused to consistently apply the law to the New Black Panthers after they intimidated voters in 2008 at polling booths.

Since then it has only gotten worse and now they are admitting it. Amid questions about why Libyan rebels get US aide and air strikes while rebels in other countries do not, the administration’s deputy national security adviser, Denis McDonough, annunciated the Obama Doctrine.
the Hill:

“We don’t make decisions about questions like intervention based on consistency or precedent,” said Denis McDonough, the administration’s deputy national security adviser, amid an off-camera gaggle of reporters. “We make them based on how we can best advance our interests in the region.”

This of course covers Obama’s ass when he does not do the same thing elsewhere. And of course it explains how a man who railed against Iraq can justify Libya. After all consistency has nothing to do with anything.

What a concept! What a copout!
