Armageddon or Wishful Thinking?

Gene Lalor | March 29, 2011

Many Christians believe at least in principle in the End Times teachings of Christianity, in the Second Coming of Jesus Christ when He will return to Earth, do battle with and defeat the forces of the anti-christ, the beast, at Armageddon.  The anti-christ will then be dispatched to the abyss for a millenium, somehow escape, join Gog and Magog, and eventually be tossed into the fires of Gehenna in perpetuity.

Or something like that.

Islamists profess a similar but different and mandatory eschatology.

It may be difficult to believe as Islam is in process of staging worldwide jihad against Christianity but Muslims revere Jesus Christ as a great prophet, not nearly as great as Mohammad but great nonetheless although His role in the End Times will be significantly different when those times roll around.

According to TruthNet.com, with variations for Sunnis and Shiites, “The Muslim Jesus descends and converts the world to Islam, kills the Jews, breaks crosses, declares himself a Muslim and gets married.  He dies after 40-years:” http://bit.ly/aJ4ojw

Imamalbaqir.jpg   Central to Islamic theology is Allah ruling the world after the emergence of the Twelfth Imam, Muḥammad ibn al-Ḥasan al-Mahdī (محمد ابن الحسن المهدى) the Mahdī, the savior of humankind.  He went into hiding in the ninth century to avoid the usual imam fate of execution, though some believe he didn’t die and was hidden by God.

Twelve centuries is a long time to be in hiding but, okay, he had a destiny to later emerge with Jesus Christ to fulfill their mission of bringing peace, justice but not necessarily the American way to the world.

Some Muslim leaders aren’t about to wait another millenium or two for Allah’s revenge or to declare, as 9/11 terrorist Muhammed Atta screamed, “Allahu akbar!”

Iran’s certifiably maniacal President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Iran’s soon-to-be-certified Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, heir to that other peace-lover Ayatollah Khomeini, are setting the stage for the return of Allah and Muḥammad ibn al-Ḥasan al-Mahdī.  Spreading the word that the Islamic messiah is on the way by camelback just wouldn’t work so Mah and Ali are utilizing an infidelian invention, a movie.

As noted in an article on PajamasMedia.com, ”One of the most important keys to securing the reappearance of the last messiah–as called for in the Hadith–is the annihilation of Israel, and the conquering of Beitol Moghadas (Jerusalem).  They state with conviction that Islam will soon conquer the world, and that all infidels will be destroyed.”

Convinced of all that, what better way to share the good news of destruction with the world’s 1.2 billion Muslims, with Muslims everywhere from Iran, to Europe, to America, to Africa, to nomads than by going Hollywood and producing a flick for all to see, assuming nomads can somehow plug in their tents?

Ahmadinejad’s Rahm Emanuel, Esfandiar Rahim Mashaei, exults, ”Therefore let us shout out loud that The Coming is soon and that evil should be fearful.  We live with these thoughts every day and our lives are filled with The Coming of the last imam.  That human will reappear and fill the world with justice and establish his promised governance on earth.  The very world has witnessed too much bloodshed of the innocent for others to build their palaces.  The very world is filled with shouts for justice.  The innocent and the oppressed are losing their lives to world powers.  It is in this very world where the oppressors rule and this world that Allah will command the last imam to appear and forever put an end to injustice.  At that time the world will belong to the righteous:” http://bit.ly/etZljD

It all, literally, takes your breath away.  The hypocrisy, the ignorance, the bloodthirst.  Do remember, though, that Allah is a good god, a merciful god, an understanding, just, and benevolent god.

Just don’t cross him!

Better, still, hope and pray that Israel nukes Iran before Iran mobilizes more jihadists to nuke us, all in the name of Allah.
