Quick Thought For Today (January 30th, 2011)

Someone the other day attempted to once again convince me that certain peoples, particularly those in native to Africa, have a naturally lower intelligence than those descended from European ancestry. The poorly contrived theory was that because these people lived in mud huts, had not generally constructed large cities, do not drive around on crowded freeways in automobiles and have to hunt daily for their food that they had proven their intellectual inferiority.

I laughed. I asked this person if he knew how to build a home of mud and straw, if he could get by without his precious automobile, build a skyscraper without the help of someone knowledgeable in that particular field or even go out and hunt large game with a bow and arrow. He of course arrogantly said if he had to he could do all of these things. My response was to offer to ship his rear end to Africa and drop him off in the bush to have him give it a shot for I would put good money on him being dead within a week. He of course declined my offer.

It is not that people of different races are intellectually inferior because they have not learned the same skills as others and it is a bad assumption to make such a claim. Intelligence comes on many levels and with regards to many different skills sets. Where and how people have to live because of situations that are above them affects what skills they will learn and develop.
