RSSUPDATE: Revisioning Jane Fonda

Let’s face it: Aging sucks and sometimes the wisdom of George Burns’ old joke that it beats the alternatives doesn’t compensate.
A woman born with a pretentious name to a famous father and a suicidal mother, a model, actress, sex kitten, activist, and exercise gurette rapidly approaching old age must find it particularly challenging to accept senior citizen status.
To her credit, 73 year old Lady Jayne Seymour Fonda-Vadim-Hayden-Turner looks great, for a septuagenarian, credit which most likely should be shared with her various doctors.
No credit was earned for her role as “Hanoi Jane” when, during the Vietnam War in which 58,236 American servicemen were killed, 153,452 were wounded, and 765 were captured, beaten, and tortured in such ratholes as the so-called “Hanoi Hilton,” Jane Fonda not only went to North Vietnam and revelled in the applause and accolades she received there but actively worked to subvert her country, her countrymen, and America’s war effort.
The Vietnam War may have been a mistake and was lost in Washington and by hippie dissidents on our streets not on the battlefield but no individual Americans, aside from Daniel Ellsberg with the Pentagon Papers and Jane Fonda with her trip to the land of the enemy did more to undermine troop morale and any chance we had for victory.
Not even Lady Jane’s strident support for Huey Newton and his anti-American, Marxist revolutionaries, the Black Panther Party, nor even her profession of love and dedication to their goals, (“Revolution is an act of love; we are the children of revolution, born to be rebels. It runs in our blood. . . we must support them with love, money, propaganda and risk), earned her the everlasting loathing and disgust as her 1972 visit to North Vietnam.
That exercise in bald-faced treason in providing desperately-needed aid and comfort to our enemy, for which she was never prosecuted, has become common knowledge as have her grinning pictures on an NVN anti-aircraft gun used to shoot down American planes and pilots. 
Less well-known and even more damning are Fonda’s seditious radio broadcasts on behalf of the Communist North Vietnamese “in which she called American military leaders ‘war criminals’ and, following the return home of some POWs who described mistreatment by the North Vietnamese, saying that Americans should ’not hail the POWs as heroes, because they are hypocrites and liars:’ “ http://tiny.cc/217ka
Fonda’s half-hearted, non-apologetic apologies for some–far from all–of her actions and statements during that time have failed to cut it for most Americans who still regard her as a traitor.
Therefore, as the former Barbarella enters her dotage, a little revisionism was in order lest her memory be forever tainted, lest she be historically regarded as worse than Tokyo Rose, which she was.
TruthorFiction.com,which provided the above quotations, addressed what it calls, “an erumor” currently being circulated which purports that President Obama is considering honoring Fonda and which cites statements by various POW’s attesting to their maltreatment by their captors. Obama’s plan to confer honors on Fonda as one of the “100 Women of the Century” has not been verified but, given that he’s Obama, is entirely within the realm of possibility.
However,TruthorFiction.com, which printed 3 versions of the “erumor,” two from 2005 and the 2010 version, contends, “This story [of the POWs] hearkens to a real visit to North Vietnam by Jane Fonda in July of 1972, but the stories about betraying POWs is [sic] not true. . . This particular email includes three stories, two of which have been denied by the POWs who are named, and one of which has been confirmed as true by the source, although he was not named in the email.”
TruthorFiction.com specializes in debunking rumors, from the banal to the significant, but its debunking of negative political rumors such as the one about the Obama White House not accepting Christmas ornaments with religious themes it invariably declares to be fiction. Its reason for calling the “erumor” fiction: The White House says so.
Likewise with the Jane Fonda/POW “erumor,” the website declares it to be phony based on its alleged contacts with two POWs named, one of whom called the e-mail “the product of a very vivid imagination, the other calling it a “hoax,” neither of which statements is substantiated by TruthorFiction.com. In any event, they’re irrelevant to Fonda’s treason.
Jane Fonda’s deeds and words on behalf of American enemies have already been confirmed by none other than Jane Fonda and no amount of further proof or clarification is needed. Other sources have verified that her actions, such as passing on notes from a POW to his captors resulting in bonus torture of the POW, are of little consequence.
The gifted and spoiled child of Henry Fonda committed grave and repeated acts of sedition and, regardless of the statute of limitations, she should not now be feted by the nation she betrayed as one of its great women. Nor should her criminal betrayal ever be glossed over and forgotten in any revisionist Hollywoodian biography, no matter how old she gets.
