Hope You Had a Wonderful Christmas, It’s Not Too Late to Help our Troops

Move America Forward | December 28, 2010

Christmas is now behind us, and we hope you had a magical holiday with your families. Move America Forward wishes each of our troops, and America, a blessed Christmas. Thank you to all patriots who have sponsored care packages for our troops. It’s not too late to send a holiday package to our troops.

During the Vietnam War, our men and women in uniform were far away from home, just as many of our troops are today. During Christmas 1967, Commanding Army Gen. W.C. Westmoreland, wrote this to U.S. troops:

Throughout the Christian world, the Christmas season is a time of joy and spiritual inspiration. Despite separation from our families and the hardships imposed by war, those of us in Vietnam will still share the traditional Christmas spirit this year. We can enjoy the spiritual satisfaction that comes from giving. As fighting representatives of the Free World, our gift is the help we give the Vietnamese people to secure their future freedom. Each of you gives a part of this gift and deserves the satisfaction of having increased the happiness of others — the true Christmas spirit.

My best wishes to each of you and your families for the Christmas season. May you enjoy good fortune during the coming year.

Today, we wish the same feelings of a traditional Christmas to our men and women who are far from home. We recognize the gifts from our troops to the United States and to the world.

Move America Forward marked our 12 Days of Christmas by chronicling the gifts that American troops have given to us since the first days of our Great Country. Each day we shared stories of our troops’ sacrifices.

Their sacrifices continue today, even after Christmas. Please enjoy these photos of Christmases experienced by American Armed Forces over the years:
