Democrats Less Inclined To Think America Is On The Right Track

When you look at who thought America was headed in the right direction under a liberal Democrat controlled congress and the tutelage of the ultra liberal President Obama, it is no surprise to see that it was mostly liberal Democrats. According to Rasmussen prior to the election 59% of Democrats thought that America was on the right track. The amazing thing about these numbers is that just 59% of the registered supporters of the party which was in control were in line with what said party was doing. Overall in that same week (Oct 25-31) just 31% of all Americans felt the same way.
Why exactly 41% of Democrats did not think that with their party in power America was on the right track will require a little bit of speculation. Obviously the 59% who approved were happy with the level of socialism brought to the country since 2007 when the Democrats took control of both houses of Congress. The other 41% is then obviously made up of two groups. Those two groups are those who don’t think the nation is far enough left and those who still think the Democrats are not a leftist political party and who think the party went too far left.
Since election day and the number of Democrats happy with the direction of the nation has dropped dramatically according to Rasmussen’s polling. Now just 47% of Democrats, a 12% drop, are happy with the direction of America. So we see some of the socialists who were happy with things like Obamacare and massive bailouts peeling off.
Now I know what the leftists will whine. They will whine about how Republican voters, the evil, vile partisans that they are, are obviously more happy with the direction of the country since election day. Well, not so fast. Actually:
The percentage of those who think the country is headed the wrong way is basically unchanged since then among Republicans (86%) and voters not affiliated with either of the major parties (71%).
Oops. Obviously Republicans and independents are waiting to see what those sent to Washington will do before becoming more certain that America is on the right or wrong track. They want to see improvement. They don’t just want words.
Still only 28% overall think America is on the right track. The track that we are on is one that has led to creeping bigger and bigger government. And overall only 28% approve of that.
