The National Organization for Women, NOW, aka, the National Organization for Liberal, Leftist, Lesbian Women, NOLLLW, has broken with its long-standing tradition and policy of ignoring slime hurled at Republican and, especially, conservative, females.
It was okay for an aide to Democrat gubernatorial re-tread candidate Jerry “Moonbeam” Brown to call Republican gubernatorial candidate Meg Whitman a “whore,” okay in that the feminists at NOW uttered nary an official word about the use of the W-word.
The unidentified Brown associate was accidentally overheard on a voicemail speaking to Governor Moonbeam and suggesting, “What about saying she’s [Whitman's] a whore?” Brown responded, “Well, I could do that,” but didn’t, publicly. Listen to the full 4-minute audio here: http://tiny.cc/2xw1d
The best defense Brown could later muster was,”I don’t agree with that comparison. I don’t want to get into the term and how it’s used.” The best NOW could muster in response to the use of that degrading term? Silence.
NOW was also silent over “The View’s” Joy Behar twice calling Nevada Republican senatorial candidate Sharron Angle “a bitch.” The B-word may be a cut above the W-word as a slimy description of a woman but is still pretty nasty. Behar herself is pretty nasty too but using the female dog word on-air was beneath even her. Behar also prophesied that Angle would “go to hell” and described an Angle campaign ad as “a Hitler youth commercial.”
For good measure, Behar added that Angle is “a moron on top of being evil.” Incidentally, Behar’s attack resulted in Angle’s raising $150,000 for which she thanked “The View” hostest with the leastest by sending her flowers the next day. Also incidentally, “The View’s” majordomo, BaaBaa Wawa, didn’t even blink at Behar’s language.

So, does the National Organization for Liberal, Leftist, Lesbian Women consider “whore” and “bitch” acceptable and apt descriptions of women who dare to enter the public square? Apparently, yup.
But does NOLLLW condone slanderous and sleazy tactics of phony sexual escapades directed at a female candidate? Apparently, nope, at least based on its very surprising defense of the baby-faced but tough Republican nominee for the U.S. Senate, Delaware’s own Christine O’Donnell. 
O’Donnell, an attractive Christian, arch-conservative, patriotic, anti-abortion, anti-illegal immigration, anti-embryonic cell research, Constitutionalist, Tea Party-endorsed woman–positions and beliefs all contrary to NOW’s positions and beliefs–is running against arch-liberal Democrat Chris Coons, who was an avowed Marxist in college. That fact might be unfair to mention unless one considers that O’Donnell has been ripped and ridiculed for being a wiccan–when she was a high school kid.
But, back to the slander.
The gossip website Gawker.com smeared O’Donnell by posting “an anonymous account of a man who said he had had a one-night stand with O’Donnell three years ago [coincidentally] on Halloween” and paid the guy at least a thousand bucks for his tale and pictures of O’Donnell “dressed as a ladybug.”
I can see a witch or a chronic masturbator, but a ladybug?
Would Gawker pay me a grand for my anonymous story of my stolen weekend with Hillary Clinton in a little, grass shack in Tahiti, even with photo-shopped pictures of me in speedos and Hillary dancing topless on the beach? I hope not since that whole image is scarily repulsive and as fictional as Gawker’s but conservative Christine O’Donnell was fair game.
To O’Donnell’s rescue, however, came none other than the ladies of NOW/NOLLLW who were able to let slide the “whore” and “bitch” epithets but who were chagrined and outraged beyond imagining by Gawker’s defamation.
The same day Gawker’s manufactured dirt hit the internet, those ladies announced, “NOW repudiates Gawker’s decision to run this piece. It operates as public sexual harassment. And like all sexual harassment, it targets not only O’Donnell but all women contemplating stepping into the public sphere:” http://tiny.cc/u8yfe (“Whore” and “bitch,” though, must be compliments to women.)
Will wonders never cease? Is the Apocalypse at hand? Are Elvis and Michael J. alive and well and living with Hillary on Tahiti?
I don’t know about those possibilities but it’s nice to see NOW/NOLLLW finally understanding NOW’s mission statement, “to bring about equality for all women” and not just liberal, leftist, lesbian women.
