Our troops in Afghanistan need your help tonight, especially the 8,000 who are participating in the military’s latest venture dubbed “Operation Dragon Strike.” This latest offensive is the next state in a process that started with the invasion of Marjah province earlier that year. Our troops are now taking on the city of Kandahar, which is the traditional home-base of the Taliban, the city in which their extremist interpretation of Islam was born.
| “Operation Dragon Strike is the most important battle of the Afghan war so far. At least 8,000 U.S. soldiers are involved in this massive new offensive. The aim is to strike right at the heart of Taliban territory, Kandahar.
Some of the fiercest fighting has been in Zhari, a neighborhood to the west of Kandahar. There has been heavy fighting there for weeks as U.S. troops prepared for the assault. Zahri is on the main highway to Kandahar. From there, insurgents can control a major supply route into the city, something U.S. troops want to stop.” - CBS News Sept 27, 2010

These troops need our help now! The 8,000 US troops involved in this battle need to know that they have our full support and what better way to show them than by sending a care package full of goods that will help them out in the field.
