Tea Party Express: We Told You Murkowski Was a RINO
ANCHORAGE – During the GOP primary campaign for U.S. Senate in Alaska, the Tea Party Express (website: www.TeaPartyExpress.org) regularly referred to Sen. Lisa Murkowski as a RINO (Republican In Name Only) when communicating with our supporters.
In doing so, the Tea Party Express was repeatedly attacked by some in the Republican establishment, and the news media, for questioning Sen. Murkowski’s loyalty to the principles of the Republican Party – as defined by the party’s platform.
Today, several news media accounts detail actions by some on Murkowski’s team to explore options of a third-party run on the Libertarian Party ticket should Sen. Murkowski continue to trail in the vote count in this race.
“The fact that members of Murkowski’s campaign team are trying to orchestrate a third-party run for Lisa Murkowski proves once more she’s a Republican in name only, which has been our contention all along,” said Amy Kremer, Chairman of the Tea Party Express.
“Senator Murkowski hasn’t even waited for the votes to be counted before having her team considering various options to circumvent the will of the voters of Alaska. She should be ashamed of herself. This is not how a public servant should act, defying the will of the voters to advance her own ego and lust for power. No wonder she lost the vote among those who voted on Election Day,” concluded Kremer.
