Close the Doors, They’re Coming Through the Windows!

Gene Lalor | July 31, 2010

Gay City TV  The antiquated expression, “Close the doors, they’re coming through the windows,” derives from a hit 1950’s song by the Stargazers; it referred to the chaos when too much happens at the same time.

We’re experiencing that superfluity today, that overkill with regard to the sound of squeaky closet doors being opened wide and gays, lesbians, homosexuals, queers, bi-sexuals, transgenders, and God knows what else emerging into the normal world and proclaiming their normality, denouncing the meanness of heterosexuals, and demanding their acceptance by one and all.

They may not yet be coming through the windows but give them time.  When this new breed of gays is confronted with closed doors, they will use any avenue of ingress available in order to gain entry.

Idol worship: Sara Gilbert,  The latest ingressor is Sara Gilbert, the pasty-faced thing on the old, trailer-trashy, 80’s sitcom, “Roseann.”

As if the world cares about whom she takes to bed, or to the rafters, or to a chandelier, Gilbert has officially emerged from her closet to proclaim her lesbianism, just in time for the inauguration of her upcoming ripoff of “The View” which her producers are titling, “The Talk” as if no one will notice the rip.

As Popeater.com reports, “It’s been widely accepted that she was out of the closet–as she has two children with TV producer Allison Adler:” http://tiny.cc/ajb3o

How those children came about is anyone’s guess, although virgin births are a possibility and at least one of them seems to have been implanted in Gilbert. her partner Allison Adler.

Gilbert is following in the path of another notable lesbian, Ellen Degeneris, who hosts an eponymous and popular talk show.  Degeneris just bailed after a year as a judge on “American Idol” during which she managed to drag down the show’s ratings.

There’s no doubt that there’s a market for lesbians–and male gays–on the boob tube but whether the market supports the plethora of them is another question.  Somebody up there in television land must like them or identify with them.

It strikes me as egregious overkill in an attempt to convince the viewing public that one, homosexuals are everywhere and two, they’re just like the rest of us.  Neither of those assumptions by TV’s higher-ups is correct or substantiatable and the overkill may eventually backfire.

I’m not about to get into the ongoing dispute as to the numbers of gays or their percentage of the population.  They’ve been clamoring for the general public to believe they represent 10% whereas the truth always has been closer to 2%.  They’re just more visible nowadays.

Suffice to say, conclusions should not be drawn based on their numbers and percentages in cities and especially in America’s big cities where they’re concentrated and tend to congregate.  That’s like estimating the number of Catholics in the world based on the population of the Vatican.

One also shouldn’t use the frequency of blatant or subtle homosexual characters appearing on sitcoms such as “Will and Grace,” musical-comedy dramas such as “Glee,” dramas such as “Nurse Jackie,” virtually all soaps such as “Melrose Place,” reality-based series such as “Queer Eye for the Straight Guy,” specials such as “Gary and Tony Have a Baby,” and even on animated series such as “South Park.”

As I said, homosexuals aren’t everywhere–except on television.

To all of the above, many will respond with a quizzical, “So?” and condemn the writer as a homophobe or closeted gay, or both.  To that I would respond that I’m none of the above.  I will confess to a concern with the overwhelming numbers of gays in the entertainment field which, again, promotes the false impression of commonplace normality by virtue of their omnipresence.

To those who would say, “What’s wrong with that?” I would answer, “A great deal is wrong as discussed and documented at great length on numerous, previous posts on this blog.

The reasons range from a concerted effort on the part of homosexuals to seduce children, to their undermining our educational system, to their interrupting and even desecrating religious services, to agitating to practice a gay lifestyle in the military, to their attempts to dismantle the Boy Scouts, to their propensity for violence when they don’t get their way.

With the best friend gays have ever had, or ever will have, in the White House and in other govermental areas, gays no longer will have a need to climb through society’s windows.  Obama, the MSM, and the entertainment industry have stretched out the red carpet.

May God help us.
