Nervy News #9: Napolitano’s Surrender
Gene Lalor | June 28, 2010
We’ve all heard that dog bites man isn’t newsworthy but that man bites dog is. Likewise, we’ve heard of other stories which are so banal we wonder why the editor publishes them and stories which strike a chord as classic examples of overreaching and obnoxiousness.
According to its own website, two of the missions of our Department of Homeland Security (DHS), head honchette, former Arizona Governor Janet Napolitano, is “Securing Our Borders” and “Enforcing Our Immigration Laws.”
That DHS has failed in both missions is apparent from the chaos that exists on our southern border where the flood of illegal and brazen immigrants continues unabated, border guards are assaulted and shot at, and crime is rampant in border states.
To compound that failure, Secretary Napolitano
has now announced the surrender of the DHS.
In a speech at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, Napolitano threw in the towel when she said, “The plain fact of the matter is the border is as secure now as it has ever been, . . . It’s a big border. . . [Everyone involved in border security agrees] ‘You’re never going to totally seal that border:’ ” http://tiny.cc/h21ge
On any number of occasions already, “Big Sis” has demonstrated an obtuseness and incompetence in the administration of her duties as head of DHS. As Arizona governor, she had sought federal assistance on border security but now feels that same border is “as secure now as it has ever been?”
What planet is this woman from?
She then exacerbates the lunacy of that absurdity with her surrender statement, “You’re never going to totally seal that border.”
Combined, the two statements clearly show she is out of touch with reality and admits she is too incompetent to fulfill the duties of her position at DHS.
Secretary Napolitano should resign forthwith before she also surrenders in the primary responsibility of the Department of Homeland Security: preventing terrorist attacks within the United States.
