New York Democratic Rep. Anthony Weiner Ignoring Real Problem For Politics
J.J. Jackson | May 19, 2010
New York Rep. Anthony Weiner, a Democrat who no one with a brain has ever accused of being a sane man, has his panties in a bunch. No, he is not upset about rampant unconstitutional spending or creeping socialism. Perish the though because he likes both of those things. No, having solved all the problems of the country Mr. Weiner is moving on to more important issues like Glenn Beck and Goldline.
Goldline, if you don’t know, sells gold. And they happen to advertise on shows like Glenn Beck’s. What the problem is with this is really not known. But Mr. Weiner, who shouldn’t even be elected Dog Catcher much less a Congressman, is going full hog after them.
Gold, being valuable and all, is in demand. In fact based on the rising prices over the past few years it would be a safe bet to say that the demand is outstripping supply. People buy gold from a variety of sources including Goldline and they pay a price that they decide is fair for the commodity.
It is not as though Gold as an investment or even a source of currency is an unusual one. After all the founding fathers gave precious metals special recognition in our Constitution stating that, “No State shall … make any Thing but gold and silver Coin a Tender in Payment of Debts.” Gee, we have kind of gotten away from that haven’t we? Hmmm maybe Mr. Weiner should hold hearings on that!
But no, Mr. Weiner thinks that free people exchanging goods and services for a mutually agreed price is a bad thing. Wow! Real shocker there coming from someone like him huh?
You have to read this to believe it:
Fox News host and conservative talker Glenn Beck is firing back after New York Democratic Rep. Anthony Weiner issued a report critical of Goldline International, a gold retailer and one sponsor of Beck’s cable show. Goldline is among several gold concerns that advertise with Beck while Beck offers testimonials about gold — an arrangement that’s sparked some conflict-of-interest complaints about the pundit.
….
In the report (on Weiner’s House website as a PDF), Weiner charges that Goldline “grossly overcharges” for coins and makes false claims about gold being a good investment. Goldline touts gold as a more solid investment in this economic climate.
The report says the gold retailer has entered “an unholy alliance with conservative pundits” — among them Beck, Fred Thompson, Dennis Miller, Mark Levin and Laura Ingraham — to “promote Goldline by playing off the fear of inflation.”
“What we have found, by looking through the public records, is that very often they use their public programs to advocate purchasing gold, and then immediately, advertisements begin for Goldline,” Weiner said in a news conference Tuesday.
HOLY CRAP! You mean to tell me that companies actually buy advertising on radio and television to sell their products? Stop the freaking presses! When the Hell did this start! I mean how dare they! And in America of all places! And how dare they get people to promote their products!
Boy this sure is scandalous …
No, not really. See, Rep. Weiner is just another barking liberal moonbat who cannot deal with real issues that really affect Americans and that are Constitutionally valid. He has his eyes set on harassing citizens that he doesn’t like instead.
Basically this yummy brain’s complaint is that companies are promoting products for sale. Products that are in demand none-the-less. What does he really want to happen? Does he want to ban radio hosts from endorsing products they use and like? Gee, sounds like a violation of that whole Congress shall make no law abridging the freedom of speech thing if you ask me. Although I am sure, and heavy sarcasm is intended here, that Rep. Weiner has an explanation for how what he is basically suggesting is not in violation of the first amendment.
Beck has been pretty open that he uses Goldline ever since I have heard him advertise for them. It is not a big secret so there really isn’t anything being hidden from anyone. Also no one is forcing anyone to buy gold from Goldline either. There is no gun to the head of anyone here. You know, not like the gun the federal government holds to our heads each year on tax day where they scrape away even more of our dollars to fund welfare programs for their loyal voters. So how Mr. Weiner can say that Goldline “grossly overcharges” for its services is really a mystery.
What is next? Will Mr. Weiner also be going after collectors of rare stamps who are charging more than Mr. Weiner thinks they should for their items? Or maybe he will do something much more in vogue among the left and attack Big Oil for “price gouging” because that seems to be a theme that recurs almost yearly as gas prices rise during times of increased demand like the summer. Another shocker!
Well, whatever it will be I am sure Mr. Weiner will get right on it. Because, like I said, all of our real problems are obviously solved.

I have been watching Glenn since he first came to Fox,guess what? never bought any gold.Today at least I am free to make that choice, tomorrow mabe not if Obama continues.
Oh my gosh! I hope Mr Weiner looks into car sales, OxiClean, cereal, toys etc. All this must stop! The EPA should probably be involved too for noise pollution and the FCC for “crazy talk”. I know, let’s just all watch PBS all the time. I am sure they will always be “fair and ballanced”.
I was watching Glenn beck since he was on CNN and was glad that he went to FOX. And I have not bought any gold! So maybe Weiner needs to check his facts again! He should be looking into GM, who made false statements in their latest TV Ad stating that they had paid back their loan, plus interests! What they omitted was that they paid it back with tax payer money. This is what Americans should know! Most of what the White House puts out there has a little bit of truth, but what they omit is the largest portion that the news media should be checking and reporting nightly! Too bad they are in bed with Obama and the democrats!
