No Surprises

Unsurprising News Tidbits:

President Transparency Manipulates a Town Hall:  Barack Obama is not one for public surprises.  He was taken aback last week when a group of gay protestors repeatedly disrupted a speech with demands he push for repeal of the military’s DADT policy regarding gays.  This week he reverted to form by stacking a town hall meeting with supporters in Iowa.

See the video here and note the enthusiastic guy behind Obama wearing a tee shirt emblazoned with the words, “Community Organizer:” http://bit.ly/95o4UA

An Obamacare Ooops:  Recall all those promises that Obamacare would save money, wouldn’t force people out of their current insurance plans, wouldn’t adversely impact Medicaid, etc.?  Now a report from HHS Chief Actuary Richard Foster reveals that was all a pack of lies.  And, to sweeten the pot, it’s been revealed that HHS Secretary Sebellius knew about the report a week before Obamacare was rammed through Congress.

See the story and the full, month late, report here: http://bit.ly/9Ief6n

Fall into the VAT:  First we were assured that Obama was not considering a Value Added Tax, Europe’s favorite scheme for bilking taxpayers without their knowing their governments were doing it to them.  Now the VAT has somehow slithered back onto the table but the president will say, “Hey, yo, it’s not my idea!  It’s the idea of [my] bipartisan, fiscal advisory commission,” which will be doing his bidding and “recommending” a VAT.

A Nation of Potheads:  Like abortionists, once marijuana enthusiasts got a foot or a bong in the door, it was only a matter of time until our permissive society allowed them to go public.  First was California’s medical marijuana law and now LA’s sleazy Hotel Normandie is trying to convert itself into a “pot-tel” where potheads can have the run of the place and National Weed Day, April 20th, may soon be declared a national holiday.

So far the idea has been a bust but just give it time before the Waldorf Astoria sets aside a floor or floors for weed lovers: http://bit.ly/cSthLn

Anyone else get the feeling that the United States of America is rapidly headed into the swirling waters of history’s toilet?
