Texas’ Hutchison to serve out Senate term

Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison, Texas Republican, said Wednesday she will finish her Senate term ending in 2012. "This has been a hard decision," she said at a press conference in San Antonio. "I really did intend to leave . . . but the stakes are so high." Mrs. Hutchison said concerns about the federal government's increasing debt was a major reason for her staying. She recently lost the Republican primary election for Texas governor against incumbent Rick Perry.
