Lest We Forget One

David L Lamon

Key Verses: Galatians 4:9-11 But now, after that ye have known God, or rather are known of God, how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto ye desire again to be in bondage? Ye observe days, and months, and times, and years. I am afraid of you, lest I have bestowed upon you labor in vain.

Key Verse: Proverbs 14:12 There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

Note: Never forget it will only be those that; Matthew 24:13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. This verse should alert you to the fact this doctrine of once saved always saved is a fallacy. For in it is a false sense of security so much so many don’t feel the need for praying incessantly or studying to show themselves approved. While it is true man may not be able to pluck you from the hand of God you yourself can. The truth of the matter lies in what the bible says about this thing of salvation. Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the (continual) renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. Titus 3:5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost. Until death takes hold or Jesus comes it is open season on salvation, otherwise why would God bother to Revelation 3:19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent. Hebrews 6:4-6 For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame. Why would it possible to; Revelation 3:5 He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.

Repentance is a Daily Event not a One Time Affair

Otherwise why would Jesus demand Matthew 18:21-22 Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven. It is necessary so that you that have been offended or sinned against not become under bondage again through hatred or allow a revenging spirit to overcome you. After all Romans 12:19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord. Galatians 5:1 Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.

The enemy Satan uses people to bring you back into bondage and this comes in many shapes, forms or fashions.

2 Peter 2:17-20 These are wells without water, clouds that are carried with a tempest; to whom the mist of darkness is reserved for ever. For when they speak great swelling words of vanity, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through much wantonness, those that were clean escaped from them who live in error. While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage. For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning. Once again, this last scripture proves without a doubt the doctrine of once saved always saved is false.

Examine Yourselves

Proverbs 16:1 The preparations of the heart in man, and the answer of the tongue, is from the LORD.

Note: Romans 14:12 So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God. Proverbs 18:21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.

Proverbs 12:15 The way of a fool is right in his own eyes: but he that hearkeneth unto counsel is wise.

Proverbs 16:2 All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes; but the LORD weigheth the spirits.

Proverbs 21:2 Every way of a man is right in his own eyes: but the LORD pondereth the hearts.

Israel Our Example

Deuteronomy 8: 11-20

“Beware that you do not forget the Lord your God by not keeping His commandments, His judgments, and His statutes which I command you today, lest-when you have eaten and are full, and have built beautiful houses and dwell in them; and when your herds and your flocks multiply, and your silver and your gold are multiplied, and all that you have is multiplied; when your heart is lifted up, and you forget the Lord your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage; who led you through that great and terrible wilderness, in which were fiery serpents and scorpions and thirsty land where there was no water; who brought water for you out of the flinty rock; who fed you in the wilderness with manna, which your fathers did not know, that He might humble you and that He might test you, to do you good in the end-then you say in your heart, My power and the might of my hand have gained me this wealth.

“And you shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day. Then it shall be, if you by any means forget the Lord your God, and follow other gods, and serve them and worship them, I testify against you this day that you shall surely perish. As the nations which the Lord destroys before you, so you shall perish, because you would not be obedient to the voice of the Lord your God.

Sound Familiar

America, a nation blessed beyond belief has turned from the source of those blessings and many in the churches still to this day don’t have a clue of where they got what they got and everyday seeks man’s solutions for ails them. Matthew 15:8 This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honored me with their lips; but their heart is far from me. Matthew 15:9 But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. Romans 1:21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.

Proverbs 21:23 Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth his soul from troubles.

1 Corinthians 15:58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.

Conclusion

Be honest with yourself. Did this stir your heart to repentance or was your heart in such a hardened state you easily blew these scriptures off? If your answer was the latter it would be wise for you 2 Peter 1:10 Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall.

We are very near the end of our journey (rapture of the church) and a stiff-necked hardened people will not be numbered among those that have obtained heaven but will be left behind to suffer the tribulation period, which if you are familiar with the goings on during this time it will be next to impossible to be saved from the Lake of Fire that burneth forever because of the tremendous strains that will be demanded just for survival period and the fact your faith in God during this period will tested unto death. A person that allows their hearts to harden over anything separates himself from God and not the other way around. Remember, God only dwells among those of Isaiah 57:15 For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.

Those that give themselves to prayer and supplication along with regular study of God’s word seeking only his understanding and not that of their own will be rewarded. Romans 8:35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? Romans 8:37-39 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. 2 Corinthians 6:17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, Hebrews 7:24-26 But this man, because he continueth ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood. Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them. For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens. Jude 1:20-21 But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost, Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.
