Don’t Be Scared. Be Proud And Be Brave.

4,000+ emails in my in box all say the same thing. After reading my article this week entitled, “A Petition for Redress by the Citizens of the United States,” some patriots have signed on to the petition. Lots more however are scared.
Lynn, whose last name I am withholding because she obviously fears that being publicly identified as a supporter of this document would be hazardous to her future says:
I just want to tell you that I agree 100% with the items in your petition for redress. I wish that I could tell you however that I am going to sign on but I cannot because I am scared that by doing so I will be putting myself in the line of fire for an out of control federal government that is clearly not afraid to bully its citizens and I do not want my information to potentially fall into the hands of our current President’s thugs. I know that my name alone would not be enough for the government to take action against me because it is pretty common but I know a lot about computers and information systems and should the government come after you and the information contained on the site which is probably collected when people post comments such as IP addresses I do not want that to fall into the hands of these people.
I commend you for your courage in posting this. It needed said. I am so tired of these statements of conservative values that have been coming out lately and I think that someone putting down all the atrocities our government has levied upon the people is a much more productive and important step.
I pray that God will protect you because we know how tyrants hate people that speak out against them and will stop at nothing to silence them. I wish that I had your courage.
Yep, 4,000+ emails just like that from people too scared of this government to affix their name to an article that I wrote. That is sad on many levels. It is sad that our government has scared the people of this nation to such a point. It is sad because people need to have courage even in the face of being scared.
Believe me you, I am doing a lot of things to make sure that nothing will happen to those that sign on to this petition should someone come knocking at my door demanding something they have not entitlement to. I have been, first of all, sanitizing IP addresses in the data to make sure that they will not fall into anyone’s hands specifically because so many have raised concerns and even bluntly asked me to do so. I have also been completely destroying emails related to the article from readers; not just deleting but using some very sophisticated means of data destruction to make sure that they are unrecoverable for people that have asked me to be careful with their data for fear of reprisals.
Are we really at this point America? Yep. The citizenry is frightened and they are getting slowly backed into a corner.
I understand your concerns. I will work with you IF you want extra steps taken to make sure that no personal data will fall into the hands of people that have no right to it. But we have to stand up. If not us then who? If not now then when?
If you want to sign on then do so and send me an email asking me to sanitize your data. I will be more than happy to do it and be more than happy to take any heat that might come from it.
