Seventh in a continuing series on former President George W. Bush and his responsibility for all of Obama’s gaffes, failures, and stupidity, for all the evils in the universe including tooth decay, hemorrhoids, and Iran, and for all that goes bump in the night.
George W. Bush has really done it now! After all the horrors he’s caused since he left office 14 months ago, he’s managed to become like Barack Obama, or Barack Obama has become like Bush, or . . . whatever.
The point is that Obama has similarities to Bush! Gasp!
In a typically, pointedly snide piece on PoliticsDaily.com, Walter Shapiro draws parallels between his hero, Obama, and the Great Clown of the Western World, George W. Bush.
Titled, “How Obama and Bush (Shocking: As It Seems) Are Similar,” the article dredges up all the lies and innuendos surrounding the chad-infested 2000 election as Shapiro grudgingly arrives at the chief similarity between the two presidents: They are both examples of a “conviction politician:” http://bit.ly/dxgCiy
Bush’s conviction, his steadfast commitment to his sense of values and his resolve to use his “political capital” to accomplish change and reform in our tax system, Medicare, Social Security, and America’s schools were largely thwarted by Democrats, something Shapiro doesn’t emphasize since his theme was Obama’s “conviction.”
Using his mandate based on his “Carrying every major state in the nation except Texas,” Obama set out to effect that vague change he had spoken so often about in his campaign, says Shapiro who makes no reference to what he must regard as the 21 other presumably minor and insignificant states which voted against Obama.
There’s no doubt that Obama has conviction, a conviction totally unlike Bush’s whose conviction was predicated on his rock solid Christian faith and his unstinting faith in the American people, in the American Dream, in American exceptionalism in the world. Obama’s convictions, on the other hand, are still up for grabs more than two years after he declared for the presidency.
Where are they rooted? In the radicalism of Saul Alinsky and William Ayers? In the philosophies of Karl Marx and Nikolai Lenin? In the racist viciousness and anti-Americanism of Jeremiah Wright? In Obama’s own insecurities and sense of inadequacy born of a misbegotten childhood and paternal and maternal abandonment?
We may never know the true convictions of Barack Hussein Obama but the fact he has any such convictions is evidently the result of George W. Bush since Bush somehow caused all of this president’s evil qualities and failures.
As Shapiro concludes his combination hit piece on Bush/idolatrous piece on Obama, “As an unbending George W. Bush understood– for better or worse– political capital vanishes if it is hoarded and not spent.” Shapiro obviously wants Obama to spend his soon and if he doesn’t, then that, too, will be Bush’s fault.
It’s shocking, I tell you. Shocking!
