Tea Party Nation Drafts Declaration Of Independence
Carl Andrews | February 25, 2010
Tea Party activists are circulating what they call the “Tea Party Declaration of Independence,†a document meant to define the movement and establish its independence from Republicans.
Activist Bob MacGuffie stated that leading Tea Party activists came up with the idea while attending a meeting hosted by Freedom Works.
Among the statements made in this document are that the Tea Party movement will reject any attempts by the Republican Party to co-opt the movement, will work against any “RINO’s the GOP may nominate, as well as declaring their freedom from Democrats and members of the liberal media as well.
The Tea Party Declaration Of Independence is the second major set of ideals set forth by the Tea Party in recent weeks, the other being the Contract From America, which was unveiled at the recent Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), where conservative leaders presented the Mount Vernon Statement.
