Sigh Too Many Americans Are Just Ignorant

Rasmussen has a poll that proves my point:
Only 14% of voters think individual states have the right to leave the United States and form an independent country. Seventy-two percent (72%) do not believe states have this right, and 13% more are undecided.
Apparently 72% of the American public is not thinking too much. Either that or they are just ignorant. Or I suppose they could be your typical jackbooted liberal thug wannabes that hate the concept of people being free to depart from their oppressive control.
Can we please revisit history here? I know that it isn’t often taught in the government run schools these days but can we at least look at the truth?
Fact: The founding fathers and the colonies seceded from Great Britain to form what would eventually be the United States of America.
Fact: Even our own Declaration of Independence, the founding document of America, states clearly, “Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.”
Fact: Our Constitution is a list of power the federal government has. The Tenth Amendment says all powers not granted to the feds are reserved to the people and the States. Tell me, where in the Constitution does it say that the federal government has the power to prevent states from leaving the union? Anywhere?
Please note: WARNING! HISTORY CONTENT! The Civil War was a case where states were indeed prevented from leaving the Union by the federal government. But we must remember why. They were prevented from leaving the Union because they were seeking to infringe upon the rights of persons the federal government was charged with protecting from having their inalienable rights infringed. So the government interceded to prevent that action which was just under any reasonable interpretation. Note that the right to secede was as the founders stated only for when a government becomes unkind to the liberties of man not in order for one to be unkind to the liberties of man.
Now … back to our commentary on the 72% in this poll …
Ok got that? You people that are in this 72% majority on this poll really expect anyone with a brain to believe that the founding father thought that it was ok for them to seceded but it was not ok for people to seced from the nation they were to create? And basically what these 72% who answered the way they did are saying that America should never have become an independent nation.
Come on people, grow up. And maybe read a little bit of the basic history of this country. And while you are at it, put your damn brains in gear before you speak or at least before you answer a poll. Because when you don’t do this important thing you just look like a fool. And what is worse is you are fool that is hurting this Republic.
The truth hurts? Get over it.

Preach it my brother! Especially the truth about the Civil War! I, as a black man who studies history, am so damn tired and sick of the lie that the Civil War was not about slavery!
It was the main issue! Not the only issue but the main one. I am so sick of hearing the state’s rights crowd misrepresent the entire event! No state has the right to form specifically for the purpose of oppressing those under its control! It is against the natural rights of man!
But baring that there is no prohibition on states leaving what has today become an oppressive slave state that shackles the productive to provide for the lazy!
