RSSOnce Again Liberals On THe Wrong Side of Public Opinion

Recently I mused about whether or not liberals, and the Democratic Party they call home, have any popular ideas whatsoever on my blog. Seems as though every time a poll is taken on the specifics of what they want to do, not necessarily the overall idea, they are met with a wall of public opposition.
Liberals try to spin their ideas as popular. For example, with the recent health care “reform” debate, when generic questions were asked about whether or not people are for reform the majority said yes. Liberals would then rush to the microphones and tout support for their ideas. However, when it comes to actually asking people whether the public supported the further socialization of health care, which is what the Democrat’s plan was (ie. more government control), the public was overwhelmingly against them.
In the case of health care reform, people are for reform. But they are for cutting back on the government intervention which causes there to be only two insurers able to operate in an area and thus reducing competition and driving up costs, tort reform and other common sense fixes.
Well, once again I am forced to ask the same question I previously asked. Do the liberals have any popular ideas? And this is because of the recent ruling from the Supreme Court which struck down a myriad of regulations that prohibited corporations, which are just collectives of people and endowed with the same rights as individual citizens, from partaking in free speech.
The reaction from liberals was predictable. They were not happy.
Examples:
“With its ruling today, the Supreme Court has given a green light to a new stampede of special interest money in our politics. It is a major victory for big oil, Wall Street banks, health insurance companies and the other powerful interests that marshal their power every day in Washington to drown out the voices of everyday Americans. … We are going to talk with bipartisan congressional leaders to develop a forceful response to this decision.” – President Barack Obama
Yeah, but labor unions who represent a vast minority of working Americans and wacko groups like MoveOn.org (who contrary to their name have found it hard to “Move On”) are ok! Right Mr. Obama? Oh, and of course groups of people that support you are not, “powerful interests that marshal their power every day in Washington to drown out the voices of everyday Americans?” Give me a break you political hack!

Ignoring important principles of judicial restraint and respect for precedent, the court has given corporate money a breathtaking new role in federal campaigns.” – Sen. Russ Feingold, D-Wis
Whahhhh!!!!! Again, exactly why should some people be prevented from having their free speach rights because they have joined together to form a group? What part of, “Congress shall make no law,” is so hard for your liberal mind to understand? Is it the word, “no?”
“There is clear reason for ordinary citizens to be concerned that this divisive ruling will, in reality, allow powerful corporations to drown out the voices of everyday Americans in future campaigns. This ruling is no doubt yet another victory for Wall Street at the expense of Main Street America.” – Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Sen. Patrick Leahy, D-Vt
Once again, Leahy apparently has no problem with liberal groups like Big Labor drowing out the voices of “everyday Americans” though. The faux outrage is evident!
Oh, then of course there is moonbat extraordinaire, Rep. Alan Grayson from Florida. You remember him. He is the crack pot that actually said that it was the Republican plan with regards to health care for people to, “die quickly,” even though it is his fellow liberals that have often expressed the need to kill off the people who are burden to society. He said:
“The Supreme Court in essence has ruled that corporations can buy elections. If that happens, democracy in America is over. We cannot put the law up for sale and award government to the highest bidder.” – Rep. Alan Grayson, D-Fla
This is just a sampling of the complaints from the left. Well, the American people once again disagree. No real surprise there! From Gallup:
PRINCETON, NJ — Americans’ broad views about corporate spending in elections generally accord with the Supreme Court’s decision Thursday that abolished some decades-old restrictions on corporate political activity. Fifty-seven percent of Americans consider campaign donations to be a protected form of free speech, and 55% say corporate and union donations should be treated the same way under the law as donations from individuals are. At the same time, the majority think it is more important to limit campaign donations than to protect this free-speech right.
Any popular ideas there Democrats? Any at all?
Can we please stop playing this game and stop electing these fools? Please! I don’t understand why Americans who obviously are against everything the left has planned are so interested in sending them to Washington every couple of years. Are you folks voting for these people just not paying attention? Or is your handout of choice enough to buy your loyalty and cause you to look the other way? Not that either excuse is better than the other mind you.

Union Ambitions –
Unions retained the utilities and very large industries like aerospace including Boeing, GE and others. Unions targeted government employees, illegal immigrant farm workers and educational institutions to replace manufacturing employees. They want to keep that base. Unions have attempted to organize healthcare workers and have had modest success. Despite these gains, their membership has slipped from 21 million in 1979 to 15.3 million in 2009. Of these 15.3 million members, 7.9 million are government employees and 7.4 million are in the private sector, down from 8.2 in 2008. That means 5.1% of the U.S. population belong to unions (yawn….) . So, when Obama touts the importance of unions, we wonder where he’s been since 1930.
Unions and their functionaries (see Democrats) usually mess with companies in industries they think they could succeed in organizing. A few industries come to mind: 1) Banks – 80% of bank employees are Tellers earning $22,000 a year. 2) Retail – the same applies, look at their war on Wal-Mart. 3) Insurance and Financial Services – pay is a little higher, but the workforce is the same. 4) Healthcare is over-priced, sensitive to criticism (see extortion), land-locked and labor intensive – perfect.
