Just Do It
David L Lamon
Dear Ron,
If we get into that position of being not being totally sure of what we are doing or saying is the best way and every one of us does, we still can expect God to honor our faith. Many times we have to make a statement or give an answer without the luxury of plenty of time for meditation but if we are prayed up and fixed on God he will supply the words as he said he would. Luke 12:11-12 and when they bring you unto the synagogues, and unto magistrates, and powers, take ye no thought how or what thing ye shall answer, or what ye shall say: For the Holy Ghost shall teach you in the same hour what ye ought to say. As long as we know that our actions are in accordance with the word of God we are alright. Where we get into danger of the judgment is when what we do it for personal gain such as these. Matthew 7:22-23 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? And in thy name have cast out devils? And in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. The question is do we do nothing until we receive a confirmation, which God vomits at or do we put legs on that faith we claim we have and just do it? A lot of what we do is judged by the spirit in which it is done and if it don’t line up with the word of God it will not come to pass anyway. Was it done in a “vengeful manner” of which we know vengeance is mine saith the Lord [Romans 12:9] or was it done to stand for the defense of the gospel [Philippians 1:17] that glorifies the Lord? After all, as Christians we are not about portraying ourselves as though we are really something but everything we do is to lift Him up. John 3:14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up. John 12:32 And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me. Romans 12:3 For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith. The old saying, “there is more than one way to skin a cat” is relevant here because although there are is always a better way to accomplish something we must remember God uses the “human agency” and that is why he told Peter “whatsoever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven” [Matthew 16:18, 19]. This idea of sitting on our duff and doing nothing is what most disappoints God. As a matter of fact he covers this also. To him that knoweth to do good and doeth it not, to him it is sin [James 4:17]. God uses what we give him to work with, period!
