GOP leadership exhorts Obama to listen

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The chairman of the House Republican Conference says he expects President Barack Obama to do more listening than talking when he visits a GOP retreat Friday. Rep. Mike Pence said "we want to have a serious conversation with the president about our proposals." Asked if Republicans were ready to meet Obama halfway on such volatile issues as health care, tax cuts and federal spending, Pence said these issues must be discussed.
