From George Bush To Computers Obama Administration Has No Shortage Of Excuses

According to Peter Orszag, an Obama crony, the reason why our government is inefficient and ineffective is because of the hardware the bureaucrats are forced to labor with which is outdated. Ian Swanson reports this on TheHill.com.

“Twenty years ago, people who came to work in the federal government had better technology at work than at home,” said Orszag, director of the Office of Management and Budget. “Now that’s no longer the case.

“The American people deserve better service from their government, and better return for their tax dollars.”

So now we have progressed from blaming George W. Bush to the computers? I don’t know about this claim. I have come across quite a few federal employees in the past couple years and their technology seems pretty up to date to me. I haven’t seen any of them who are carrying laptops or other electronic devices that is older than two years. That is newer than my laptop and a heck of a lot newer than my desktop/server in the basement.

Maybe, just maybe, the government is inefficient because it is trying to do too many things that it shouldn’t be doing and spreading limited resources far too thin? You know, just thinking outside of the liberal, blame everyone else for our problems box here.

Seriously Mr. Orszag? You are trying to tell me that the reason why Medicare and Medicaid cannot pay doctors market wages for their services is because the computers are outdated? You are telling me that the reason Social Security is going bankrupt and why Medicare rejects more claims than private insurance per volume is because software they are running is only, maybe, Windows XP and not Windows 7? You are telling me that the reason programs like Cash for Clunkers blew its budget is because Agent Franklin’s blackberry is one generation out of date?

Like I said, here is a really radical idea! Stop trying to do so many things that you should not be doing. Pair back the size of the bureaucracy. Tell the leaches who will be removed from the teat of the momma hog that they are being let loose and to deal with it. Cut back on the number of bureaucrats and use those that remain to do only those functions our federal government is actually tasked with.

You want efficiency? How about stop doing all the things government has done through the years that cause the inefficiency. The answer is not to spend more as you imply and to update some peripherals that are not the latest and greatest. We have been throwing money down the government rabbit hole for years and it has not helped. So try the opposite tact instead!

Yeah, I know a lot of bureaucrats will be upset when their jobs are axed and a lot of slavish voters will be angry when they don’t get their unconstitutional perks any more. But unless you get serious and stop blaming everyone else for the reasons why liberal government fails and end the liberal government policies you will never fix the problem.
