Washington Outrage and Outrages
Gene Lalor | December 9, 2009
Some people say the very existence of government is an outrage; they’re called anarchists. Many others contend what our present government is doing to America is outrageous; they’re called patriots.
There is some limited common ground between those two segments of the body politic and both should agree the following to be affronts to America’s independence:
. Navy Seals Trial: Members of the Special Operations units of the United States Navy SEa, Air, and Land Forces (SEALS)
have had one essential mission since their commissioning 47 years ago: to accomplish their assigned mission.
That mission as the acronym suggests can involve reconnaisance, hostage rescue, unconventional warfare, counterterrorism and other direct action assignments anywhere on sea and land.
The general mission of SEALS Matthew Vernon McCabe, 24, Jonathan Elliot Keefe, 25, Julio Antonio Huertas, Jr., 28 was to seek out and destroy Islamic terrorist enemies of the United States.
One captured suspect, Ahmed Hashim Abed, alleged mastermind of the 2004 murder and bodily desecration of 4 Blackwater USA operatives in Fallujah, has now accused these men of assault.
If that’s not absurd enough, the three SEALS are now in process of being disciplined by their superiors and could face anything from pay forfeiture to imprisonment to bad conduct discharges.
To add insult to injury, the Navy has refused to release its evidence of this awful, alleged crime committed against a terrorist even though trials are set for next month: http://bit.ly/4zuZqq
My questions: Do our president, our military, our DOD, care if we win this war against Islamic terrorism and, if so, why persecute and prosecute 3 brave men who were only trying to help accomplish that goal?
As McCabe’s father said, “We can’t send these guys into harm’s way to get the highest profile terrorists and then have them come back here and fight the system:” http://bit.ly/702Gem
Good point, Mr. McCabe! May God bless your son and his fellow patriots.
Outrageous!
. Obamacare and Slavery: Those two topics are unrelated to most normal people but not to Senate Majority Leader Harry “The Iraq Surge Failed Before It Started” Reid.
Demonstrating very limited acquaintance with political history, Sen. Reid
compared Republican-conservative opposition to a health care bill that would make D.C. bureaucrats America’s doctors of last resort and which could bankrupt the nation, to slavery.
In a truly remarkable exhibition of Democrat distortion, Reid speechified on the Senate floor: “Instead of joining us on the right side of history, all the Republicans can come up with is, ‘Slow down, stop everything, let’s start over.’ ”
He went on, “If you think you’ve heard these same excuses before, you’re right. When this country belatedly recognized the wrongs of slavery, there were those who dug in their heels and said, ‘Slow down, it’s too early, things aren’t bad enough.’ ”
Reid’s comments were all true and correct. The only problem with his implication that it was those mean, bigoted Republicans who resisted the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965 and to allege otherwise is a baldfaced lie.
Eighty percent of congressional Democrats voted against those bills, led by Dem Emeritus and former KKK Grand Poobah Senator Robert Byrd who tried to fillibuster civil rights to death: http://bit.ly/4txxUP
Also in the forefront of denying African-Americans their just due was Al Gore’s daddy, Albert Gore, Senior.
If Reid was hearkening back to the mid-nineteenth century, someone should nudge him awake and remind him that it was Republican Abe Lincoln who freed the slaves.
Maybe we should cut poor Harry Reid some slack.
He may be hallucinating because he knows his 22-year senatorial career will be a wrap in 2010 and he will have to return to beautiful Searchlight, Nevada and try to defend to the local yokels why a Mormon could support Obamacare’s abortion provisions.
Outrageous!
. Climategate Deniers: A favorite ploy of liberals is to attempt to label conservatives who disagree with them as “Deniers.”
That rhetorical trick serves to link conservatives with the popular label of “Holocaust Deniers” and relegates the opposition to the level of fruitcakes. It’s all part of the Big Lie Technique perfected by none other than Hitler himself.
Tell a lie big enough, often enough, and extreme enough that the ignorant will come to believe it.
After all the disclosures revealed in the secret emails and reports hacked at the Climate Research Unit at the University of East Anglia and published on the internet for all to see, the United Nations
had few recourses.
It was either fess up and admit multitudinous lies and distortions on climate change or perpetuate the Big Lie.
The U.N. elected to perpetuate: http://bit.ly/8lA1eT
Let’s be real. How could the United Nations come clean and admit to decades of lying about global warming when its sponsored efforts to proving that lie were outed and its plan to use that lie to milk and bilk America lay open to the world?
Better to continue the lie and hope Americans will never catch on.
Outrageous!
