The Danger of being wrong when God is Right
David L Lamon
Will the people of God see shortages of food and be denied of the right to worship the Lord in our day? Which people of God as we are apt to call them are we talking about? Yes those that has a form of godliness but has denied the power thereof and Romans 10:3 for they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God. We are already seeing this come to fruition. Whether or not those that will be taken in the rapture are counted in this travesty I don’t know. These people of God as concerning the rapture could be taken at any minute because there is no prophesy left that needs to be fulfilled before this occurrence. However, those that are left must go through the tribulation because of the following characteristics that make up who they are. 2 Timothy 3:1-7 in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, high-minded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.
Only a foolish person wouldn’t recognize the dangerous times in which we live.
1. Lovers of their own selves- For the last 40 or so years in our public education system children had the emphasis put on the “I and Me” and with the help of many parents. The idea of serving a greater cause than one’s self is quickly vanishing from the landscape of America’s citizens.
2. Covetous- With the help of the government since FDR to present the mindset is “what can you do for me”. It’s all about me and if you have something I want in my jealousy I will desire to have it.
3. Boasters- Hey man (beating his chest) look at me and how great I am. By definition it means an immodest reference to possessions or achievements when as Jesus said, John 15:5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing but man is so eat up with the flesh or the carnality of man he can only abide in the flesh. Without being filled with the spirit of God and prayer life that takes dominion over the flesh he will resort to the only thing he knows, which the dictates of his flesh are.
4. Proud- When it is all about me or self-importance as if the world turns on your words alone and a “I can do no wrong attitude” this is what defines this person. By definition it is being arrogant, conceited and self-righteous This person is often known for being a jack of all trades and master of none meaning he is ever learning but never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. He makes his mark by stealing, lying etc. from others whatever it is to project himself above all others. In today’s economy and the social ills that prevail in America a going nowhere man takes great pride in being able to create life and then leave it for the mother to care for. He is akin the chest beater above. However, Proverbs 16:18 Pride goeth before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall. These are those whose garments are moth-eaten. Mark 7:22-23 Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness: All these evil things come from within, and defile the man.
5. Blasphemers- Used in verb form it means to treat God or sacred things disrespectfully through words or action. This person is more often than not narcissistic in nature and his persona will not allow him to be looked on less favorably by anything or anyone to include God.
6. Disobedient to Parents- For many years we have witnessed a divorce rate stat that says over half of all marriages fail. Without delving into why this is suffice it to say children are not being nurtured in the atmosphere God designed. As a result of the parent’s failure and in many cases the lack of parental guidance needed to adequately rear children they are growing up without much respect for their elders. Add to that the fact the educational system now employed teaches children to be disobedient to adults and teaches there are no absolutes or right and wrong; therefore, they are being raised to embrace whether knowingly or not to have a demeanor resembling that of an anarchist. Also, the fact that the older generation has completely destroyed their ability to enjoy the freedoms we have had why should they respect us considering the debt we have put on them.
7. Unthankful- You owe it to me man is the prevalent attitude today. In short, people today have no idea where they got what they got.
8. Unholy- These people are deliberately defiant of specific religious precepts; not blessed or consecrated by a church ritual. All too often we hear “I ain’t going to church because there are too many hypocrites or it could be everybody interprets the bible to suit themselves so what is one to do. Stay out of them all is the usual answer whether consciously or not and not realizing they will have to give an account for themselves and they are defying the commandment of not forsaking the assembling of themselves.
9. Without Natural Affection- Again this arises out of self-centeredness and love of one’s self. Story after story reveals how people observed others being attacked and did nothing to stop it but rather justified their non-action with blaming the victim for doing something to deserve it. The Arab Muslims are a good example of this. In the Muslim world today they glorify the slaughter of their own children, which are trained to be martyrs for the Palestine cause. Mothers pray that their children will be chosen for this martyrdom. The Canaanites, we are told, (Ps 106:37-38), “sacrificed their sons and their daughters unto devils, and shed innocent blood, even the blood of their sons and their daughters, whom they sacrificed unto the idols of Canaan.” Manasseh, among the Jews, imitated their example, and introduced the horrid custom of sacrificing children to Moloch, and set the example by offering his own, (2Ch 33:6). Among the ancient Persians it was a common custom to bury children alive. In most of the Grecian states, infanticide was not merely permitted, but actually enforced by law. The Spartan lawgiver expressly ordained that every child that was born should be examined by the ancient men of the tribe, and that if found weak or deformed, should be thrown into a deep cavern at the foot of Mount Taygetus. Aristotle, in his work on government, enjoins the exposure of children that are naturally feeble and deformed, in order to prevent an excess of population. In America today we have leaders right now in the current administration that publically say we older people have a duty to die and the healthcare if made law will deny life-saving care to people if it cost more that they think it should.
I could go on and on with the above description of the characteristics of those left behind to go through the tribulation but notice how intertwined they all are to one another. Maybe this is what is meant by if you transgress one of the law you are guilty of all.
Conclusion
I reckon the title could as well have been What Not To Be but at least maybe you can see the wrongheadedness of this approach and how because of a lack of attention on our part it has become a way of life in America.
