Serious Questions on Barack and Harry

Gene Lalor | December 11, 2009

On rare occasions, “stuff” happens which has to make us wonder if all is right with the world and its denizens.

When politicians or normal people say or do things either totally out of character or just so “out there,” we really should question whether their bodies have been infiltrated by alien beings or they have totally lost their minds.

Case in point of an out of character public commentary was President Barack Hussein Obama’s speech in Oslo yesterday. Oslo, Norway

Okay, he knew that being awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for accomplishing nothing was nothing more than a political gesture by the Prize Committee, a reflection of their still-seething antipathy for Bush 43’s patriotic quirks and disdain for world opinion when it came to protecting the interests of Americans.

Obama had to have known that he was undeserving since 90% of thinking creatures on the planet were fully aware of that fact of international politics.

He also had to have known that his audience probably read the papers and knew he had just dispatched 30,000 additional troops to fight the war in Afghanistan and invited our allies to feel free to jump in and help us crush the Taliban.

True, he did dither for months as our soldiers, in desparate need of reinforcements, died on Afghan battlefields but it was not exactly a Gandhi-esque speech for a peace prize recipient.

So, what happened during his address which turned out to be longer than his inaugural speech?

He supposedly personally wrote the speech all on his own and, though he read it off his trusty teleprompters, actually sounded like an American president concerned over his country’s safety and was resolute in his commitment to carry on a just war.

He had called Afghanistan a “necessary” war, as opposed to the Iraq conflict which he feels is an unnecessary war of whim or convenience but, to his credit, Obama upheld both the honor of his country and the rightness of America’s commitment.

Also to his credit and as opposed to past practice, he didn’t bow and scrape to anyone.  That in itself is a novelty and virtually proves the real Obama has been kidnapped.

I think I know where Waldo is but what I want to know is, Where’s the real Obama and where have the Nobel clique gone with him?

One other possibility is that the prez heard GWB is closing in on him and that 44% of Americans would now prefer to have Bush back: http://bit.ly/7dmTd5.  That would explain why he pocketed his Nobel, waved, and all but galloped out of Oslo.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid Harry Reid: Majority Of  is easier to figure out than Obama.  Sort of.  But whether his recent statements and actions simply show he’s distracted or if they reflect a mental imbalance is debatable.

He’s facing a major challenge in his re-election bid.  During the Christmas (”Holiday”) break he has to return to Nevada and explain his defense of Obamacare, Cap and Trade and Tax, and his endorsement of the whole Obamian agenda to his constituents.

That will be tough enough but Reid also has to defend his support of abortion under Obamacare to his Mormon Church which abhors abortion.  Saying he’s anti-abortion while backing pro-abortion Obamacare won’t cut it with faithful Mormons nor with other thinking Nevadans.

So, he may be distracted but those distractions can’t make sense of what Reid has said and done of late.

For one, the leader of the United States Senate has harped and carped on the dire need for immediate action on health care-Obamacare for weeks.  He has said his senate would work non-stop, even on weekends, to produce a bill that would be presented to the president as a pre-Christmas/Holiday gift.

Like Dickens’ Uriah Heep, Reid would bow in obeisance and obsequiously back out of the Oval Office, having done his duty.

Now, however, the crisis seems to have passed as Uriah Reid smells money and has elected to put the critical need for Obamacare on the back burner as he heads off to New Orleans to collect his booty at a thousand-dollar a plate fundraiser.

Apparently, there are crises and then there are crises and some crises aren’t all that critical: http://bit.ly/70Bqtp

In and of itself, Reid’s flipflop on the pressing requisite of foisting Obamacare on the American people may be regarded as politics in action.

However, compounded by the senator’s other recent odd statements could lead people to believe he has truly lost it, gone bananas, gone round the bend, flipped.

Reid has compared Republican opposition to Obamacare to tolerance for slavery, an allegation which the (black) head of the RNC, Michael Steele called, “absurd and offensive: ‘Reid has now compared his quest to pass the Obama-Pelosi government takeover of health care to the effort to end slavery:’ ” http://bit.ly/4txxUP

Reid loves playing that race card.  He employed it a month before the election to paint a radio talk show host as a racist for telling the truth in linking Fannie Mae’s former CEO Harold Raines with Obama: http://bit.ly/6xxIG9

Good grief, Harry!  Aside from the question of why a quasi-governmental agency such as Fannie Mae maintains a PAC to dish out bribes to politicians, Raines has long been in bed with Obama and Obama got the lion’s share of Fannie’s largesse last year:  http://bit.ly/6TxKLV

I doubt any aliens snatched Senator Harry Reid.  Why would they bother since he’ll be soon joining Tom Daschle as one more disgraced Democrat politician?  I do still wonder about Obama, though.
