No One Should Get Excited About NY-23

That message goes to both Conservatives and Democrats.  And there are good reasons for that proclamation.

First, to the Conservatives.  I know we are all watching the recanvasing going on right now.  Amazing how some precincts gave Hoffman zero votes isn’t it?  Even when they damn well knew he had a lot?  And I know the margin has dipped from about 5,000 votes to about 3,000 with a couple thousand absentee ballots to still count.  Those ballots however would have to break nearly 2-1 to Hoffman for him to overcome the deficit.  Odds are that is unlikely unless they are mostly military.  And even if they are mostly military, remember most of them were cast when Scozzafava was still in the race.  With that (R) next to her name she is bound to get about 20% of those votes making it difficult if not impossible for Hoffman to stage a comeback.

I could be wrong and Hoffman might still win though.  However, if he does don’t expect Nancy Pelosi to seat him.  Owens has already been sworn in and if you think the actual results of an election will mater to someone as far to the left as Speakerette Pelosi, well you have got another think coming.

Now, for you giddy Democrats!  Obama won NY-23 in 2008 and as I have previously debunked the myth that the district has been in the hands of Republicans since the civil war it really is not that great of a victory to see it once again fall into the hands of Democrats considering that for much of the last century Democrats have held the seat. Just realize this however. Obama won the district with 51.8% of the vote in 2008. Right now Owens stands with around 49% on election night. Owens is basically an Obama sycophant who supports all sorts of unconstitutional big government spending and programs. That means a drop below 50% support for Obama policies in the district in just one year. Ooops.

Yeah Dede the Democrat in RINO clothing is pretty liberal, but most people that voted for her in the Republican Party (something like 6% on election night) did so because they pull the lever for the (R) no matter what.

The elections in NY-23 happen again next year. And with the way the economy is going right now things can change quickly. Although it is entirely possible that the voters up there will still think that socialism is a good idea. Just like they have for the better part of the past century.

Let’s see what happens when the 10,00 Absentee Ballots are counted. I understand this includes the military ballots. I also understand that the final results won’t be ready until mid-December. You never know there could still be an upset.

I think that 10,000 was the number sent out and not returned. I have heard that there are only 6,000 ballot to go through. So, if that is true then in order to overcome a 3,000 some odd vote deficit Hoffman would need to snag about 80% of those votes to win. Then it would be so close you would have a run off and ballots for Owens being found in the trunks of cars and in broom closets. We all know how it works.

Even the military has about 30-40% goof balls that vote for liberal Democrats every year. You know who they are. They were the schlubs in ROTC with me who wanted the free money for college but would never want to fight for this country to pay back that debt. The same sorts of deadbeats that always vote liberal.

I agree with J.J. No reason to get excited. Sure Hoffman might win, but once the challenges are through it will be almost November again and Pelosi will never seat Hoffman before the election to allow him to run as the incumbent.
