Poor Dirty Dave.
It was bad enough that Mrs. Palin outed him but now that his extortionist, CBS producer Robert “Joe” Halderman, has been identified as his blackmailer, the smear on CBS must be lengthening, no?
Well, no.
Halderman had threatened to reveal that the newly-married Dave, who has a 5 year old son by his long-time mistress, Regina, was wont to, let’s say, do various female staff members and had a boxful of evidence to prove it.
In his on-air fess-up, Dirty Dave gave few details of the extortion plot except to say flatly that he has been screwing various staff members, which titillated his audience, and that the extortionist wanted two million of Dave’s bucks.
Subsequently, CBS announced that not some but all of its hero’s assignations occurred prior to his taking wedding vows. And Les Moonves surely wouldn’t lie about such things.
It has also been revealed that one of his bedmates was none other than Dirty Dave’s former perky intern, Stephanie Birkitt: http://bit.ly/OdOUh.
Braggadochio? A ton. Contrition? None.
In years past, Letterman had often used Birkitt, 
who is almost young enough to be his granddaughter, during various on-location sketches until he discovered a more gratifying use for Stephanie as his on-premises mistress.
You have to realize that nowadays libs like Dirty Dave can get away with virtually anything, from lecherously impugning Palin’s daughters to utilizing his position as boss of his production company, Worldwide Pants, to bed subordinates.
It used to be considered a no-no worthy of dismissal for an employer to sexually mess with his employees but no longer and definitely not for CBS’ cash cow, Dirty Dave Letterman.
As the undisputed King of Late Night since NBC awarded Leno a prime time slot, CBS is willing to overlook such peccadillos and the King now calls his own shots, with both the network and what the King emphasized repeatedly were female staff members.
As Nixon emphatically contended, “I am not a crook!” Dirty Dave wanted it made perfectly clear that he was not a queer!
Where is Perez Hilton when you need him? After all, by Letterman’s repeatedly saying it was only an indeterminate number of female staffers with whom he fornicated and/or committed adultery, isn’t that a gay put-down?
More importantly, where are the National Organization of Women and their liberal ilk who would have taken to the streets with pitchforks, flaming torches, and resignation demands by now had the fornicator/adulterer been Glenn Beck?
Will the wrath of CBS’ Les Moonves eventually come crashing down on Dirty Dave?
Not bloody likely since “The Late Show” ratings are up 38% and the dirt-loving public is all but beating down the doors of the Ed Sullivan Theater to get a glimpse of television’s most noted roué in action.

It all says a lot about American culture in the Age of Obama.
Too bad for former Democratic presidential hopeful Gary Hart that the lib double standard hadn’t applied during his shenanigans with Donna Rice back in 1984. 
*Update* On Monday night, Letterman–no doubt under orders from CBS to adopt a charade of remorse to placate the rabble who still gave a damn about his sexual escapades with staff underlings–devoted most of his first half hour doing just that. Placating.
With his audience lapping it up, Dirty Dave profusely apologized to his new bride, Regina, for taking advantage of a still-indeterminate number of female-only staffers. Precisely when weren’t you “thinking ahead?” When you, a 62 year old daddy to Harry, adopted as your mistress young Stephanie Birkitt, or was it after?
Methinks you finally are thinking ahead, to Regina’s potential divorce settlement and her custody of Harry.
Personally, the only person I care about in this whole tawdry mess is Harry. What will you say to him down the road, Dirty Dave, when he asks about your Stupid Letterman Tricks?
