Pittsburgh Excluded From Global Warming/Climate Change?
J.J. Jackson | October 28, 2009
There has been an strong push the past couple of weeks to try and “prove” that Global Warming really is happening. All sorts of “experts” have been called in and have given their “opinion” on the matter. Usually the result is an conclusive statement that Global Warming is STILL happening as of the past decade and that we are all still doomed because of it. Usually these claims come without much hard data to back them up. We get a lot of statements that are just to be accepted at face value from these so-called “experts.”
Now, I am still recovering from this flu/cold that has kept me down for about the past five days, but my head is clear enough to do some simple data collection and analysis. I decided to look at the data just in my home town to see what was really going on.
So I pulled up the data from NOAA (http://www.erh.noaa.gov/pbz/formf6.htm) with regards to Pittsburgh to see what was up.
Here is the data that NOAA has for the years 2001-2008 (in F) with a yearly summary:
AVG MAX AVG MIN MEAN
2001 61.6 42.8 52.2
2002 62.0 43.1 52.6
2003 59.3 41.2 50.2
2004 60.5 42.7 51.6
2005 60.8 42.3 51.5
2006 61.3 43.2 52.3
2007 61.6 42.5 52.0
2008 60.4 41.4 50.9
You can check the data for yourself and I have included both average and mean temperature values so that no one can accuse me of using one over the other for political expedience.
Now to make things nice and easy to see, I have plotted this data:

From NOAA data
Now, I am not going to interpret this data for you. You can look at it yourself and decide whether or not Pittsburgh, PA has been excluded from this “Global Warming” that is supposedly still happening by sheer luck or whether or not maybe, just maybe there is a reason why those on the other side are telling you what to believe instead of showing you the actual data.
