National Paranoia–Part 2
Gene Lalor | October 22, 2009
Ok, go ahead and scoff at paranoia and the truism that paranoiacs sometimes really do have someone after them who may want to do them serious bodily and/or psychological harm.
In the case of national paranoia, perhaps you have been misinterpreting the words and actions of people plotting to alter your life as you’ve known it and our nation’s principles as we’ve long understood and revered them.
Oops, that sounds paranoid.
As strongly suggested in “National Paranoia, Part One,” http://www.genelalor.com/blog1/?p=1273, ominous, dark storm clouds of a change few anticipated on November 4th, 2008 have been gathering and theatening both America’s and our individual status quos.
With abject apologies to Robert Browning, How do I count those changes? Let me count the ways.
We could start the count of the undermining of American’s life and values on President Obama’s Inauguration Day, January 20th, 2008, when he promised the universe as the minorities who elected him all but became orgasmic and trashed his predecessor.
However, fast forward to four days ago when the White House Communications Directress, Anita Dunn, recent FoxNews dunner and Mao Tse Dung aficionado, who let slip the quip in a Dominican Republic speech that, “Very rarely did we [Obamians] communicate through the press anything that we didn’t absolutely control.”
Dunn added, “We just put that out there and made them write what [David] Plouffe [Obama’s campaign manager] had said as opposed to Plouffe doing an interview with a reporter. So it was very much we controlled it as opposed to the press controlled it [sic]:” http://bit.ly/4F8XTi.
Media control is the essence of any modern dictatorship.
Throw in the end run being plotted to re-establish the so-called Fairness Doctrine to eliminate conservative talk radio and recent attacks on Fox News aimed at marginalizing/blackballing that network and Obama will have a virtual monopoly over the airwaves.
Still not convinced that this adminstration is as far removed from true American thinking and gut values as the American Nazi Party and old Gus Hall’s Communist Party?
Then try this on for size: Disgraced but still in place Obama science czar John Holdren came up with a jim dandy idea last week–”having the Federal Communications Commission force radio and television stations to surrender free time for advertisements calling attention to what he called ‘the population-resource-environment crisis.’ “
Force is the keyword for what Holdren proposes: more government control of the media to push Obama’s agenda: http://bit.ly/3av5jQ.
Or try this about another disgraced/still in place Obamaczar, a confessed, committed homosexual who laughably is overseer of “safe schools” in America.
Kevin Jennings contends that “Christian values . . . are misused to isolate or denigrate lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people” and have no place in the nation’s public schools: http://bit.ly/DmQUS.
Despite widespread calls for Jennings’ removal for being unfit for his position, Obama is standing by his man, though hopefully not too closely. Precisely which students this man is keeping safe is unclear but it certainly isn’t the 95% who are still heterosexuals.
Or think guns. Guns can be a horrifying weapon of destruction as well as outstanding weapons to repel crime, to defend one’s household, to target shoot, and to hunt.
Gun posssession is also a constitutional right protected under the Second Amendment, one of the first rights repressive regimes seek to deny citizens, and an excellent method of intimidating the citizenry.
One example of such intimidation by the Secret Service occurred during an Obama motorcade in Virginia when the president’s men were “pointing automatic weapons at citizens holding signs protesting Obamacare.”
For a description of that shameless exercise of governmental overkill and a review of how gun control has been used to reinforce governmental tyranny, see http://bit.ly/2ysNiH.
Or think executive compensation.
Having served in the trenches as a minion in both the industrial and educational industries, I’m well aware of the Peter Principle, union excesses, and exorbitant executive/administrative salaries.
Industry execs are usually paid out of company profits and educational honchos are paid by local school taxpayers. The former, theoretically, are held in check by elected Boards and the latter by Trustees and Boards of Education.
We all know the vast majority are vastly overpaid.
But Obama wouldn’t dare go after public school superintentents and their multiple, over-paid underlings. The NEA would not approve.
When industry compensations enter the stratosphere of tens or hundreds of millions of dollars annually, it’s literally obscene.
Nevertheless, pay scales are no business of government in our barely pro-entreprenurial, free enterprise, democratic republic.
The Obamians don’t see it that way.
“The Obama administration plans to order companies that received huge U.S. government bailouts last year to sharply cut the compensation of their highest paid executives:” http://bit.ly/byj7N.
Some of those pay cuts would amount to 95%!
Now, none of those execs deserve what they’re getting and granted all of the targeted firms greedily accepted government handouts but is the United States of America now in the business of ordering, not suggesting, pay cuts in investor-owned companies?
Apparently so in this business-hating administration.
How long whatever’s left of AIG, GMAC, Citigroup, et al. will remain investor-owned is speculative at best. I’m guessing until Obama wants even more control.
If Barack Obama and his creepy, fascist-thinking appointees don’t offer reasonable cause for national paranoia, does that mean we can relax but expect even worse in the years to come?
I think what we can anticipate over the ensuing 3 years of Obamanism is not pretty, unless you feel disintegration of a nation is pretty.
I suggest conservatives seek out a good a good shrink or, better yet, start or join a demonstration opposing the leftist forces intent on making our country an applicant for Third World status.
A sense of national paranoia at this juncture seems the better option if national obliviousness is the only other choice.
I’m heading to my bunker to listen to re-plays of that great Obama-ditty, “Umm, Umm, Umm, Barack Hussein Obama, Umm, Umm, Umm:” http://www.genelalor.com/blog1/?p=1237.
