MAYDAY! MAYDAY! THIS IS ARLEN SPECTER AND I’M GOING DOWN!
J.J. Jackson | October 28, 2009
Benedict Arlen Specter, the RINO who was always a liberal Democrat, is continuing his nosedive in the polls heading into next year’s mid term elections where he will stand for reelection himself. Specter, as you will recall, jumped from the Republican Party to the Democratic Party when it became clear in polling that he would loose this time around to Pat Toomey, the man Specter barely beat out last time around by a hair.
According to the latest Franklin & Marshall College Poll, which has been tracking the race, Specter cannot even get significant traction among Democrats despite being very much in line with their beliefs.
Specter leads Congressman Joe Sestak 30% to 18% among Democrats, with about half (47%) undecided.
For an incubent to be this low in the polls even in a primary is something that you know scares Senator Specter to death.
In the general election Specter and Toomey are in a dead heat:
In the general election race, Specter has a small lead over Pat Toomey, 33% to 31%, with nearly a third (30%) undecided
Considering that many people still do not know much about Toomey and Specter is much more a household name this also does not bode well. Many voters in the state believe that it is time to elect someone other than Specter to the Senate. The wildcard is how many Democrats won’t vote for Specter if he is the party’s nominee in the general election even if they believe such. Or will they fall in line and BAH BAH BAH all the way to the ballot box and send him back to Washington yet again just because he has a “D” next to his name? It is a possibility.
