Maybe one day they might qualify for the programs they are paying for.

You have worked all day pulling lumber off of a belt, your hands are tired, your body aches, your hungry and almost ready to collapse, today is pay day so you envision going to get you a big cheese burger and fries and a chocolate shake for lunch and somehow that vision pulls you through till the horn blows and you can go pick up your check, you stop by the office almost feeling the grease from the burger rolling down your chin, you wait in line to get your check and you mentally tick off what bills are due this week and how little you will have left, finally it is your turn, you step up to the window and the lady behind the glass smiles at you and hands you a check, you look at it and it is only for half the hours you worked, “something must be wrong”, you tell her. It is then that she informs you that in the interest of fairness everyone is getting the same amount regardless of the hours they worked.

Sam who only came in one day last week and spent most of his time in a bar is getting half of what you worked for. You look at your check, knowing that it will never be enough to pay your bills, buy groceries and gas and you say “I never signed up for that, I can’t afford to pay my bills with this money taken out.” She tells you that while she feels for you it is the new rules, perhaps if you let go of cable, drove a smaller car, carried your lunch everyday instead of eating out on Friday, you could stretch that check further. It is called redistribution of wealth, taking from the rich and giving to the poor. It is called being fair to those who do not really want to work, to those who for some reason disability or disease can’t work, Alcoholism is a disease according to the government, it is a disability, so is the inability to hold a job and every week you are giving some of your check to people who either cannot or will not work.

This is a drastic scenario of what happens every single week in this country, hard working men and women must hand over their hard earned money to those who do not wish to do what they do, now they want them to pay for health insurance for everyone, while attempting to raise their electricity rates. Gas is going back up, grocery prices have yet to fall and the working people of America are being told once again they must give. They really cannot complain because if they do they are called selfish, greedy, and are told what all they should cut to be able to maintain their new budget, but not one person is telling those that are living off of these people what they should give up. Perhaps, those who work should stop working, they would still get half of their checks and maybe, just maybe one day they might qualify for the programs they are paying for.
